The Bistro at Brander Lodge is a modern south facing conservatory air-conditioned dining area for residents, visitors and locals alike. The Bistro is the soul of the hotel offering fresh local dishes made from the very best local produce where possible, all served to suit the taste buds of the individual.

Start your day the right way with a cooked to order breakfast which includes a range of dishes from full Scottish breakfast to scrambled eggs and even smoked trout. Lighter options of porridge or pastries and fruits are also available. 

When you arrive for your meal you can peruse the menu, in the lovely spacious bar or sit in the comfy lounge for pre dining drinks, where the staff will offer table service.

Fresh local produce is used whenever possible and the menu reflects the wonderful options of the region, with meat from Grants of Taynuilt, fresh smoked delights from Inverawe smoke house, fresh fish & seafood from the Atlantic in the West and North Sea in the East coast of Scotland and local fresh water and sea water Lochs.

There are many areas to help you enjoy your stay including the warm cozy bar with its wood burner on colder nights, you can dine in the spacious air-conditioned bright south facing Bistro & Atrium lounge areas and look at the surrounding hills where you can spot the local Scottish wildlife.

Directions to Brander Lodge Hotel in Taynuilt

By Car
FROM GLASGOW

-Take the M8 towards Greenock. Take junction 30 over Erskine Bridge. Take A82 towards Loch Lomond and Tarbet. At Tarbet take A83 to Inverary then the A819 to Loch Awe.

-At the T-junction at Loch Awe take a left onto the A85. Follow this road through the village of Loch Awe heading towards Bridge of Awe. You will pick up the signs for the hotel before the Bridge of Awe. 

By Train

-If arriving by train, our nearest station is Taynuilt, which is on the ScotRail network. The train is 3 miles from the Brander Lodge Hotel (approx 1hrs walk or 6 mins by car)

There is a world of adventure and excitement on the doorstep of Brander Lodge, just waiting for you to enjoy.

Walking & Climbing
The area around Brander Lodge is renowned for its spectacular scenery and walks. There are marked trails and climbs both locally and within short drives from the hotel. Ben Cruachan (Mountain of the Peaks) is aptly named and is the highest point in Argyll and Bute.

This fine circular route takes in the two Munros of Ben Cruachan (1126m) and Stob Daimh (998m), linked by a high ridge, the latter Munro is the main peak of the Dalmally horseshoe. Ben Cruachan is one of the best-known mountains in Scotland and certainly one of the finest, with soaring ridges, dramatic cliffs and breathtaking views.

Cycling & Mountain Biking
The Scottish Highlands are a MTB’ers dream – enjoy routes through the forests, by the rivers and lochs nearby. Trails are set out by grade, and we can advise on many of the options on your doorstep or further afield.

Fishing on the River AWE
The river Awe is recognised as one of the best Salmon and Trout rivers in Scotland, with an impressive catch record.

Nearby, at Loch Awe & sea Loch Etive, there is a variety of fishing, including trout, perch and pike, along with salmon and various other catches.

Oban Distillery Tours
At nearby Oban, enjoy many of the distillery tours on offer, and sample some of the country’s finest malts.

Gateway to the Islands
Oban is the gateway to the Western Isles and the Hebridean Isles rich in heritage and tranquillity. The Brander Lodge is just 20 minutes drive from the Caledonian MacBrayne Ferry Terminal where the choice of day trips and longer cruises are numerous and we can assist in advising on these.

Ben Cruachan – The Hollow Mountain
Cruachan Power Station an underworld on a spectacular scale – a hollow mountain and a place like no other. Buried almost 1km below the ground a massive cavern, as high as the tower of London, houses enormous turbines converting water into electricity. This is a fantastic attraction and we at the Brander Lodge can assist book you on the trip into the heart of the mountain.

Inverawe smokery
This renowned smokery is well worth experiencing – a visit here can also include fly-fishing, walks and trails.

Corachie Clematis Garden Center
Situated beside the Brander Lodge Hotel & Bistro this well stock garden center offers an extensive range of potted plants, bedding plants, shrubs, trees, garden furniture and ornaments and has a well stocked shop for tools, bulbs, seeds, etc. In fact, they have everything the discerning gardener should require and Douglas and his team specialise in a huge range of Clematis, some of which can be seen establishing themselves in our own garden. There is also a well equipped children’s play area and currently being created, an attractive walk down through the pine woods to the edge of the beautiful river Awe, where picnics can be partaken.

Golf
Taynuilt Golf Club is a challenge friendly 9-hole parkland course surrounded by majestic scenery with Ben Cruachan for a backdrop and view up Loch Etive.
There are also courses at Dalmally and Glencruiten
