Things to see & do in Braemar

The historic village of Braemar is located 58 miles west of Aberdeen in the Scottish Highlands.

Each year the village hosts the world famous Braemar Gathering Highland Games. The games feature many events where athletes travel from all over the work to take part. Enjoy the Pipers and dancers or cheer on the teams from H.M. Forces who compete in the Tug of War Championship and Relay Race.

Braemar Castle, located just on the outskirs of the village was built in 1628 and overlooks the River Dee. The castle is owned by the chief of Clan Farquharson and is leased to a local charitable foundation. Visit the castle and hear the stories of the colourful characters associated with the castle and discover the part played by Braemar Castle in the story of Scotland.

Glenshee - home to the largest ski centre in Scotland is only 8 miles south of Breamer. The Royal families summer home Balmoral Castle is also located a few miles from Braemar.
