Things to see & do in Renfrew

Renfrew is the former county town of the old county of Renfrewshire and is located 3 miles north-east of Paisley and 5 miles west of Glasgow.

In the 12th century Renfrew was created a burgh (a royal burgh in 1396) and Renfrew Castle and its lands were granted to Walter Fitz-Alan, the first High Steward of Scotland.

The town is located on the banks of the River Clyde and the River Cart. A passenger ferry crosses the Clyde to Yoker and a bridge crosses the Cart to Inchinnan and Glasgow International Airport.

There are many attractions to visit in this area, from the popular Braehead Shopping Centre, Ikea and to the the Xscape centre which opened in 2006, featuring indoor snowboarding, skiing, ten-pin bowling, climbing, cinema and much more.
