Aviemore is one of the main Tourist Destinations in the Scottish Highlands. Re-vitalised a few years ago with a wide range of hotels, self catering outlets & activities.

For the Tourist, Aviemore is easily accessible. By road the A9 from Perth take approx 2 hours by car, and from Inverness roughly 45 minutes drive. Aviemore also has a railway station on the mainline between Inverness, Perth, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

If you are looking for things to do in Aviemore, then there are plenty of options. During the summer months there is the Strathspey Steam Railway. A 40 minute journey to Glenbogle, through glorious Speyside scenery. For the more adventurous there is a tree top walk, zip wires - both suitable for all the family and great fun. Pony trekking, cycle hire, fishing, an 18 hole golf course and reindeer feeding. In the centre itself there is a cinema and leisure facilities. there are water sports on Loch Morlich from sailing to water skiing and the Cairngorm Mountain range is only 10 miles from Aviemore.

The Cairngorms, with its Fenicular railway, which is open all year round is a great spot for walking, with well laid out paths. In the wintertime it becomes a winter playground for snowboarders and skiers.

Whilst there are many great things to see and do in the immediate vicinity of Aviemore. Its also a great base for taking trips out by car in the surrounding Scottish Highlands.  Each way you turn, there is something worthwhile to see and do. Head North and you'll be in Inverness and Loch Ness. Head westwards and you'll be in "Monarch of the Glen Country" with mighty mountain ranges and deep lochs cutting into the landscapes. Continuing westawards and just over 1 hours drive away there is Fort William and Ben Nevis. Turning East, you follow the route of the River Spey to places like Grantown on Spey the starting point of the worlds most famous whisky trail. Further afield and over the Lecht the journey takes you to Royal Deeside.

From the south there is pretty Pitlochry and two remote whisky distilleries, which are both open to the public - Dalwhinnie and Tomatin. Newtonmore and Kingussie are 2 lovely Speyside villages, both with great golf courses. It's worth seeing the Highland Folk Museum in Kingussie, depicting  Highland life through the ages. Also worth seeing is the Highland Wildlife Park.

Aviemore and the surrounding area is teaming with wildlife, is an unpoilt area, with lots of things to see and do in the great outdoors.
