The village is located in north western region of the Lake District national park, 2 miles out of the village is the Bassenthwaite's lake which is 3/4 miles wide and 4 miles long, its surprisingly one the shallowest lakes in England at 70ft deep.  Overall Bassenthwaite has stunning surroundings, beautiful scenery and breath taking views.
