South Queensferry is located ten miles to the northwest of Edinburgh city centre, on the shore of the Firth of Forth between the Forth Railway Bridge and the Forth Road Bridge. Edinburgh Airport is also only 8 miles away.

The Forth Railway Bridge is one of the icons of Scotland.  The bridge, which is 2765 yards long, was opened on 4th March 1890 by Edward, Prince of Wales.

The town is named after Saint Margaret of Scotland who used to cross the firth by ferry from "Queen's Ferry" to visit her chapel in Edinburgh Castle.
