Bearsden is located 6 miles north west of Glasgow City Centre.
Bearsden started out as a small hamlet in the 17th century, but grew in the 19th century as wealthy Glasgow businessmen moved to the city's periphery and a wide selection of Victorian architecture can be seen, such as the former Schaw Convalescent Home.
The town has a yearly Highland Games held in partnership with nearby Milngavie. Bearsden has five golf course, including The Glasgow Golf Club, which is one of the world's oldest having been founded in 1787
