Wales has three glorious national parks to explore – Snowdonia, the Pembrokeshire Coast and the Brecon Beacons. Wales is a country full of visual drama and splendour. Then human beings added a million stories – of druids, castles and conflict; of industry and innovation. This is a country steeped in history with a vibrant 21st century culture. Here are a few suggestions of places to visit on your next break or holiday to Wales:

Cardiff
Let’s start with the capital city Cardiff with its startling range of unique attractions, top class entertainment and quality shopping. Innovative architecture sits alongside historic buildings and Cardiff Bay offers entertainment for everyone. It is a city rich in history with its own castle, 70,000 seater Principality stadium hosting world class events & fixtures. Other worthwhile places to visit in Cardiff are the Doctor Who Experience, National History Museum, Bute Park, Roath Park and Castell Coch. Cardiff is the perfect holiday destination for families, couples and groups.

Brecon Beacons
Now we’ll travel west to the grassy, heather-clad mountains of the Brecon Beacons National Park It is a fantastic place for an activity holiday or break in Wales, with superb walking, mountain biking and horse riding trails, caves, forests and a historic canal – plus characterful towns, pubs, farmers markets and fantastic eateries. It is also home to Wales’ National Botanical Gardens.

Gower Peninsula
Just past Swansea is the Gower Peninsula - the UK’s first area of outstanding beauty, a varied landscape with miles of sandy beaches, wild moors and limestone cliffs. 19 miles long from the Mumbles to Rhossli Bay. The Gower is a favourite holiday destination for surfers and walkers, and where Dylan Thomas wrote many of his books.

Pembrokeshire
At the far south west of Wales you reach Pembrokeshire, Britains only coastal National Park, makes a perfect holiday or short break destination, with miles of golden sandy beaches, towering cliffs and 186 miles of coastal paths. It’s a wonderful place to holiday in Wales for all the family with adventure parks, castles galore and boat trips. Main resorts are Tenby and Saundersfoot, and from a heritage break perspective a visit St Davids, with its 900 year old cathedral is highly recommended.

Snowdonia
Sweeping northwards through Wales, along the coastline and the coastal resort of Aberystwyth, the landscape changes as we enter the land of mighty castle and tall mountains. This is Snowdonia in North Wales. Snowdonia itself is a paradise for walkers, and if you don’t fancy the walk, there is a train which takes you from Llanberis to the summit of Snowdon at 3,560ft. The North Wales coastline is a popular destination for holidays and short breaks with resorts like Llandudno, Rhyl and Prestatyn, Further west is Caernarfon, famous for its huge castle, guarding the Menai Straights and Anglesey.
