Things to see and do Llangollen
Situation on the River Dee and on the edge of the Berwyn mountains the small town of Llangollen is known for it's spectacular scenery and has something for everyone.
Llangollen enjoys a variety of independent shops and many interesting places to visit. Why not take a gentle stroll along the river or along the Victorian Promenade.
For rail enthusiasts the Llangollen Steam Railway will captivate and charm you. Llangollen Railway is the only standard gauge railway in North Wales, and is surrounded by outstanding natural beauty as well as running alongside the River Dee.
Try something different and take a trip along the canal on a horse-drawn boat. Horse-drawn boat trips go from the canal wharf towards the Horseshoe Falls, which were built by Thomas Telford c. 1808.
You can also take a narrow boat trip along the canal and over the spectacular Pontcysyllte Aqueduct which in 2009 was made into UNESCO World Heritage Site.
