The Hetland Hall Hotel is a very popular wedding venue and therefore can be very busy at weekends and sometimes even on weekdays. This could result in your room being in close proximity to the wedding If you wish to speak to someone at the hotel.

The 18 acres of landscaped gardens surrounding the Hetland Hall Hotel provide ample opportunity for a gentle stroll taking in the glorious views, and of course, the lounges and bar are available for those wishing to do nothing more than relax with a nice drink and a good book.

The outdoor play area and mini golf course are great for all guests. It is especially ideal for those wishing for a gentle practice before taking on one of the numerous local golf courses. This is available to all guests staying at the Hetland Hall Hotel, and clubs can be provided free of charge. 

As the Hetland Hall Hotel is situated in the heart of the beautiful Dumfries and Galloway there is an abundance of local attractions to explore.

These include historic Caerlaverock Castle and Threave Gardens and Estate which is often referred to as 'a garden for all seasons and is also the home to The National Trust for Scotland's School of Practical Gardening.

The richness of the wildlife is astounding, from the amazing spectacle of tens of thousands of wintering barnacle geese at nearby Caerlaverock Wetland Centre to the even nearer spectacle (if you are lucky) of the red squirrel – in the hotel grounds!

This is also Burns country, with many renowned sites regarding our national Bard within easy reach of the hotel.

RSPB Muirhead

A Reserve of farmland, wet meadows, salt marshes and mudflats. An Important wintering wildfowl area indulging Barnacle Geese, Pink-footed Geese, Widgeon and Pintail.
Spring is also particularly magical when the wet meadows fill with Lapwings and Skylarks as well as butterflies and wildflowers.

Red Kite Trail

The Galloway Red Kite Trail is an opportunity to view red kites around Loch Ken. The Trail is an anti-clockwise route which is 24 miles around the Loch. There are six outdoor viewing points, nine walks, four hides and a feeding station.

WWT Caerlaverock Wetland Centre / Nature Reserve

A 1400-acre wild reserve on the Solway Coast. Wintering Birds include thousands of Svalbard Barnacle Geese and Whooper Swans. Summer months have visiting Ospreys.
