Castle Luxury Rooms
The Castle’s Luxury guest rooms are more compact than others. Like other guest rooms, these have been designed to reflect the character of this authentic Welsh Castle; many offer views of the gardens, Castle grounds, open fields or woodlands.

Castle Luxury guest room bathrooms are modern, many with slate character and bath and/or shower facilities.

Castle Deluxe Rooms
The Castle Deluxe Double guest rooms are exclusive and more spacious than our Castle Luxury rooms and finished above the Visit Wales 4-star standard.

These guest rooms are designed to reflect the character of this authentic, magical Welsh Castle with views of the gardens, Castle estate and woodlands (depending upon room location). The deluxe bathrooms are modern, many with slate character with bath and/or shower facilities.

Suites at Ruthin Castle
The Suites are as authentic and indulgent as The Castle itself, each offering very unique styling and decoration inspired by previous high-profile guests of The Castle. At the same time, modern comforts and conveniences abound including Nespresso Machines and Ruthin Castle Robes for all the Castle Suites.

Patsy
Named after Mary Cornwallis-West or ‘Patsy’ to her close friends and family. The original oil portraits of Patsy and her husband, Colonel Cornwallis-West, the former owner of the castle, are featured in the Inner Hallway of Ruthin Castle. Patsy was a renowned, vivacious hostess who was frequently visited at the castle by her lover, Edward, Prince of Wales. This is a striking bright silver room with a stunning feature bed regally draped from a ceiling coronet to echo the form of a four-poster. It also features large antique mirrors and a corner bay window with views over The Castle gardens, ancient Medieval walls and the surrounding countryside. The large feature bathroom is again in silver, with a double ‘bath-to-share’, separate shower and walk-in wardrobe.

Jennie
Styled after Jennie Jerome, better known as Lady Randolph Churchill and mother of Sir Winston Churchill. Jennie was a frequent visitor to The Castle and lived here at times following her marriage to George Cornwallis-West. This room is both dramatic and quirky, reflecting that Jennie was a writer by picturing bookcases around all the walls to create a library effect. The King size leather sleigh bed has pillars on either side and features a prominent classical bust on a softly illuminated stand behind the bed. The bay window looks out over The Castle gardens towards the surrounding countryside. The room also features a unique open-plan, mirror-surrounded, bath area with a double ‘bath-to-share’ shower combination.

Lillie
A frequent visitor to The Castle, Lillie Langtry was a famous actress, a ‘professional beauty’, and another lover of Edward, Prince of Wales. This room has an eccentric country house feel, opulent and ornate in style with a modern black four-poster bed. Behind the bed is a walk-in ‘dressing room’ befitting an actress, with an automatic lighting and open hanging space. The room features beautiful antique furniture, photographs of Lillie, an open fireplace, a red bedspread and a red chandelier that represent the lust and flamboyance associated with her character. A beautifully decorated screen reminiscent of the bedroom changing screens of her time hides a large double ‘bath-to-share’ with a separate double shower room and toilet. A large bay window overlooks The Castle gardens and woodland.

Oscar
Named after Oscar Wilde one of the leading writers, poets and playwrights of the Edwardian era. Oscar was a visitor to The Castle and close friends with other Castle notaries such as Patsy Cornwallis West and Lillie Langtry. The 'Oscar' is an individual compact suite with a silver bed and separate lounge complete with flat-screen digital televisions and modern-day in-room facilities. Fully finished comfortably above Visit Wales 4-star standard, the suite overlooks an inner garden area and woodland.

The Glyndwr
Named after Owain Glyndwr, probably the most renowned of all Welsh nationalists and leader of the Welsh people. Glyndwr had several skirmishes with the De Grey family of Ruthin Castle and attacked and laid siege to The Castle. Upon failing to take it, he set fire to the town of Ruthin and left it burning. This is an exclusive and individual suite with draped bedhead, lounge and optional interconnecting second bedroom. The Suite is fully finished to above Visit Wales 4-star standard with views over The Castle estate and woodland. The master bedroom has an adjoining exposed feature bath and a separate shower with slate character. The lounge also contains a sofa bed for occasional use.

The De Grey
Named after the De Grey family who occupied Ruthin Castle for centuries from the 13th century. Reginald De Grey was reputedly the former Sheriff of Nottingham tasked with raising ‘the finest army in the land’ to defeat the followers of Robin Hood in Sherwood Forest. His family controlled the lands around Chester and into Wales for centuries and his descendants included Lady Jane Grey who was Queen of England for just nine days. This is an exclusive and individual suite with draped bedhead, lounge and optional interconnecting second bedroom, with views across The Castle estate and woodland. The Suite is fully finished to above Visit Wales 4-star standard. The master bedroom has an adjoining exposed feature bath and a separate shower with slate character. The lounge also contains a sofa bed for occasional use.

The Myddleton
Named after the Myddleton family of Chirk who [following demolition of much of Ruthin Castle by Act of Parliament after its owner, King Charles I was defeated in the Civil War] built the core of the current castle within the ruins of the ancient castle around two centuries ago. This comfortable Suite looks into the wooded area around The Castle moat with a private slate character bathroom. The Myddleton Suite is fully finished and comfortably above Visit Wales 4-star standard the lounge also contains a sofa bed for occasional use.

The Prince of Wales Suite
The Prince of Wales is The Castle's largest and most individual 'bed chamber' - occupying the whole floor of a tower and named in recognition of The Castle's historic connections with the title 'Prince of Wales'.
The Prince of Wales Suite represents grandeur and is lavish and flamboyant in style. Antique furniture features throughout the room along with an original carved-wood open fireplace. Three large bay windows offer views of The Castle, its grounds and gardens.
The centrepiece of this large suite though is stunning, raised, King sized bed above which a majestic iron chandelier hangs from the high ceiling. Hidden away behind the bed is a luxurious double bath surrounded by mirrors, leather surfaces and cushions.
