Things to see and do whilst staying at the Holiday Inn Hull Marina Hotel.

Just under eight miles from the city, Skidby Windmill is Yorkshire's last working mill. The four-sailed mill has been producing flour since the early 19th century. Today you can still purchase flour in the mill shop. Take a walk around the surrounding grounds, where you can explore a wildlife garden and pond.

It's a 15-minute walk from the hotel to The Deep. The riverside aquarium is home to 3,500 fish, including several species of sharks. Admire the colourful creatures in the tropical lagoon tank, and learn about the fish that live just off Britain's shores at Dylan's Discovery Corner. You can also get face to face with deep-water species such as moon jellyfish and wolf eels.

The museums quarter is a 12-minute stroll from the hotel. You can walk down a reconstructed 1930s street and visit an old-fashioned cycle shop in the Streetlife Museum of Transport, or learn about the life of William Wilberforce in his birthplace, Wilberforce House. The Hull and East Riding Museum features a woolly mammoth among displays of natural history and archaeology.

Hull is still a bustling port and many ferries set sail from its harbour to Amsterdam on a daily basis. Hull's Maritime Museum delves into the city's seafaring history, while the King George Dock gives you a glimpse of a modern port at work. The surrounding East Yorkshire countryside offers a break from the city hubbub and features many hiking routes, especially through the nearby Yorkshire Wolds.
