Others come for the adventure, whether climbing hills, mountain biking, or diving and water sports off the long, stunning coastline.

Often the history of Northumberland is the main attraction, with castles including the famous Bamburgh Castle, monuments and sites detailing the bygone battles between Scotland and England.

The country sports such as shooting, fishing & hunting are also a draw as are the quaint market towns dotted throughout the dramatic landscape. For lovers of golf however, there is only one game in town.

Northumberland can boast some of the best golf in the country with courses to challenge the professional or encourage the beginner. Wooded parkland, sweeping headland, and some excellent links course combine to provide a golfing experience second to none.

Some of the best courses in Northumberland are easily reached from the Blue Bell hotel including the championship course at Goswick, the James Braid designed links course at Berwick-upon-Tweed, and the new course at Burgham Park, designed by Mark James. Belford has its own course which comprises a 10 bay covered driving range and practice area so there really is no excuse for not brushing up on your stroke and heading for golfing greatness.
