Braid Hills Hotel in Edinburgh is magnificently situated on its own grounds, built in 1886 this Victorian building is only a couple of miles from Edinburgh city centre making the location ideal for Edinburgh city breaks. There is a regular bus service from outside the hotel to Princes Street, in the centre of Edinburgh, which takes approximately 20 minutes.

The Braid Hills Hotel itself is in a unique location because it sits on a knoll. On one side you have open views of the beautiful Braidburn Valley Park with views of the Pentland Hills and on the other side sweeping views across the city.

Each of the 71 bedrooms at the Braid Hills Hotel is unique and individually designed, bright and traditionally furnished. Character and features are proudly displayed throughout this Victorian building, from our distinctive corner towers, amazing stained glass windows and original ornate ceiling cornice. The majority of rooms command wonderful views over Edinburgh, and Deluxe and Signature Rooms boast the best views the hotel has to offer.

The 1886 Restaurant is a spacious, conservatory-style dining room with dark wood tables and comfortable leather chairs. The Restaurant is flooded with natural daylight and enjoys panoramic views across Braidburn Valley Park, Edinburgh City and the Firth of Forth beyond. Please scroll down to view the 1886 Menu. The hotel bar and lounge are a comfortable area next to the restaurant.

At the Braid Hills Hotel 1886 Restaurant dining is a special pleasure. The restaurant is open and bright with panoramic views surrounding the area.
Seasonality is the driving force within the restaurant menu, changing regularly to reflect this. The 1886 Restaurant focuses on fresh, seasonal produce cooked with simplicity, focused on flavour and features a number of tasty Scottish dishes. Vegetarian and vegan menus are also available. Special diets can be catered for.

The Braid Hills Hotel lounge area and bar are open all day. You can relax with teas and coffee, or choose from a selection of wines, spirits and beers.

Dinner is served from 5pm - 9 pm
Breakfast is served from 7am - 10 am

Directions to Braid Hills Hotel, Edinburgh

From the city by-pass, take A702 at Lothianburn junction to the city centre. Take the right fork at the second set of traffic lights (pedestrian crossing), and follow for about half a mile. The Best Western Braid Hills hotel is on the left.

Canny Man's Located in the genteel suburb of Morningside, Canny Man's is worth the journey out of town. A quaint pub with bric-a-brac covering every available surface, it serves hundreds of varieties of Danish open sandwiches made with top-quality ingredients such as topside beef and lobster.

Filmhouse The Filmhouse on Lothian Rd is an Edinburgh institution. Along with blockbusters, the cinema programmes arthouse film, mini film festivals and the summer International Film Festival. There's also a good selection of DVDs for sale here

Edinburgh Farmer's Market  Edinburgh Farmers' Market (Saturdays only) offers organic and locally produced delights every Saturday. From Wild Boar burgers to Black Isle Ale the market has a great variety and if it's a dreich (dismal) day Stoats' whisky porridge will keep you toasty.

National Museum of Scotland The award-winning National Museum of Scotland building in the Old Town showcases Scotland's history. The imaginative displays bring to life the light and dark sides of Scottish life. Look out for replicas of Scottish burghs and Dolly the Sheep.
