With fantastic views over the Tweed, the Dining Room really enjoys one of the most beautiful settings for a restaurant in the Scottish Borders. The Grill Room offers classic Scottish dishes.

It’s open for breakfast and dinner, seven days a week.

With candlelit tables, the Cocktail Bar is ideal for a relaxing drink before, and after, your meal. The bar stocks a wide range of Scottish malts whiskies, and bar nibbles if you’re feeling a little peckish.

Directions to Peebles Hydro Hotel in Peebles

Coming from Edinburgh (A703)
On arrival in Peebles carry straight on until you come to the roundabout next to the Esso garage. Turn left and carry on for 160 yards. You will see a Peebles Hydro sign on your right-hand side, turn left onto the main hotel drive.

Coming from Glasgow (A72)
On arrival in Peebles carry straight on until you come to the first mini-roundabout next to the large church on your right. Turn left, and go straight along the main street until you come to the roundabout next to the Esso garage. Go straight over the roundabout and carry on for 160 yards when you will see a Peebles Hydro sign on your right-hand side, turn left onto the main hotel drive.

Coming from Newcastle (A696)
Take A696 out of Newcastle, through Ponteland/Otterburn to the Border. Continue on the same road (reference change to A68) through Jedburgh, Melrose then Galashiels. Take A72 Galashiels to Peebles. The Hydro lies on the right-hand side of the road, just inside the 30mph limit.

When adding children to the booking the rate quoted is based on 2 adults sharing a family room. Children's rate of £25 per child per night will be added to the booking and paid for at the hotel. Child prices include dinner allocation of £20 per child.
Children aged 12years+ will be charged at the adult price of £45 per adult per night

Our gin school is the largest residential gin school in the UK, offering a range of gin distillery tours and distiller experiences. Explore the gardens of Peebles Hydro, meet Felicity our gleaming copper still, and craft your own gin.

If you enjoy outdoor activities Peebles Hydro offers tennis, croquet and pitch 'n' putt all within the hotel's acres of country grounds, or you may prefer a leisurely stroll amongst the lawns and leafy gardens skirting the hotel.

With the Moorfoot hills to the north and the Southern Uplands in the south, Peebles is perfectly placed for novices and experienced walkers.

You’ll find a number of walking routes through Glentress Forest – next door to the hotel – and at Cardrona Forest, just a few miles south. Or take an enchanting walk along the banks of the River Tweed towards Neidpath Castle before climbing Cademuir Hill for some great views.

The Borders has some fantastic cycle routes – from long flat stretches of the old railway line to steep, fast mountain bike trails. It doesn’t matter whether you’re new to cycling or a total pro – there’s a route to suit you. 

Weather doesn’t really matter when you’re doing what you love, just ask any golfer. There’s plenty to offer sports lovers (and adventurous types) around Peebles. And the Glentress Forest mountain biking centre is just a stone’s throw from the hotel.

Don Coyote Outdoor Activity Centre
Around 18 miles north of Peebles, the Don Coyote Outdoor Activity Centre is ideal if you want to test your skills at clay pigeon shooting (over 16s only), archery or air rifle shooting. It’s open all year around.

Go Ape! Adventure Park
Be Tarzan for a day, as you take to the trees to tackle the rope bridges, swings and crossings – before you fly high on the 325-metre zip wire at Glentress Forest, Go Ape is just a few minutes from the hotel.

Golf at Peebles Golf Course
This par 70 course is one of the most picturesque courses in Scotland. It may be a short course but still demands accuracy, making it appealing to golfers of all standards. Visitors are welcome all year round.

Fishing with Peeblesshire Trout Fishing Association
The Association permit allows fishing for brown trout and grayling on approximately 23 miles of the River Tweed and 5 miles of the Lyne Water. You can buy tickets and permits online from the Association’s website or directly from the team at Peebles Hydro.

Fishing at Kailzie Fishery
Kailzie Fishery is just a few miles south of Peebles on the B7062 – follow the signs for Kailzie Gardens. The fishery is stocked daily to maintain a good head of trout − top-quality triploid and blue rainbows starting at 2 lbs.

Horse Riding
With lots of open countryside, woodland trails and miles of off-road hacking, it’s easy to see why the Scottish Borders is popular with equestrian lovers. There’s something here for everyone − from experienced riders to novices.

Fancy a leisurely stroll through beautiful gardens or a peek at Scotland’s history. Here are a few ideas for places to visit for a few hours or a full day – all within driving distance of the hotel. If you need directions, just ask.
