The Appleby Manor Hotel & Garden Spa is set in the lovely village of Appleby in Westmorland, within the Eden Valley on the edge of the Lake District. The Appleby Manor hotel is surrounded by the magnificent mountains and fells of the North Pennines and is close to the Yorkshire Dales.

Each of the 31 bedrooms at the Appleby Manor Country House Hotel is luxurious and spotlessly clean, including those in the Coach House annexe. The excellent bedrooms also offer superb views over the Eden Valley.

Appleby Manor prides itself on its fine cuisine - in recognition of this, the AA has awarded 2 rosettes, which makes Appleby Manor one of the best dining experiences in the Lake District region. Good food and friendly service is the perfect recipe for a memorable meal every night. Traditional luxury, warm comfort and fine cuisine entice you to unwind whilst the hours slip by unnoticed. The 1871 Bistro was created to complement the fine dining restaurant and has a more relaxed and informal feel, it also benefits from a fantastic outlook over the Eden Valley with views of Appleby Castle to the Lake District fells in the distance.

The new £1m Garden Spa at the Appleby Manor Hotel is now open. The Garden Spa at the Manor in Appleby has been designed with you in mind and boasts a wide selection of facilities to enhance your time at this Luxury Lake District spa. The thermal area and spa are for men and women aged 16 years and over.

There are 3 areas of bedrooms within the Appleby Manor Country House Hotel. The Victorian manor house contains the Heelis suite, deluxe rooms and some standard rooms. The garden wing has a slightly more modern feel with the ground floor rooms benefiting from having their own patio and garden furniture.

The coach house is the hotel's annexe, located just a few yards from the main building and accessed from a courtyard; the coach house contains standard double or twin rooms.

Within the Main House of the Hotel:
The Hotel accommodation, within the main part of the house, retains many of the original Victorian features. The Hotel rooms have been tastefully restored and feature the original high ceilings and intricate original cornices. All of these Hotel rooms are full of character and have all been refurbished in the last few years.

Garden View Rooms:
Some of the rooms are on the first floor and some are on the ground floor however all have lovely outlooks; some have views looking out over the putting green and the award-winning gardens or alternatively views over the beautiful Eden Valley and to Appleby Castle.
All of the rooms on the ground level feature their own outdoor seating area.

Coach House Annex:
Only 10 yards from the entrance of the hotel, these rooms are delightful and full of character. Some of the coach houses' double rooms have separate showers and one double is suitable for families.
All of the doubles are en-suite, some with magnificent views overlooking the beautiful Eden Valley.

The Superior Rooms at the Appleby Manor Country House Hotel benefit from high ceilings, oak-framed windows with views to the front of the hotel, a king-size bed and a comfortable seating area.

The Appleby Manor deluxe rooms have been individually designed and all have bespoke furniture, some with king-size beds. All the bathrooms have been totally refurbished to include Jacuzzi baths, heated screen bathroom televisions and bucket head showers.

The newly renovated Heelis Suite provides guests with the most luxurious of hotel accommodations.
Appleby Manor's newest hotel suite is furnished to the highest of standards and offers guests the ultimate luxurious accommodation. It is a very large room and features the original oak panelling from what was once the Victorian Billiards room.

The hotel suite accommodation features a Super king-sized bed, a 42" Plasma TV, a lovely lounge area with tea and coffee facilities and comfortable sofas for you to relax in.
The bathroom is the height of luxury; with a Jacuzzi bath and luxury spa toiletries - ideal for relaxing with a glass of champagne and perfect for relieving those aching muscles after a hard day's sightseeing in the Lake District or Yorkshire Dales. The hotel suite bathroom also has its own TV and walk-in shower.

Appleby Manor Country House Hotel welcomes families to the Hotel and has accommodation located in several areas of the Hotel to suit.

The Hotel also has 3 interconnecting rooms so kids and adults can enjoy their own space.

Family accommodation (Coach House):
The Coach House accommodation has pull-out single beds for children and provides excellent family accommodation.

Family accommodation (Garden Rooms):
The garden rooms of the Hotel, which were recently refurbished, have single pull-out beds for children.

Family accommodation in the Main House:
There is an array of family accommodation options. Some of the family rooms have bunk beds and in some Executive Deluxe Rooms, there are sofa beds.

The Rosette Award Winning Oak Room Restaurant at the Appleby Manor Country House Hotel offers a wide range of imaginative and mouth-watering individually priced dishes. The freshest ingredients are used, carefully selected from local suppliers wherever possible, and your chef takes real pride in his work, catering for all tastes including plenty of choice for vegetarians.

The Oak Room Restaurant is renowned for its high-quality cooking, and you can be sure the skilled and dedicated kitchen team will offer plenty to tempt your taste buds, making your meals here truly memorable. Hotel guests dining in the restaurant can enjoy the charming views over Appleby Castle and the beautiful Eden Valley; there could be no better place to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner than in this 2 AA rosette award-winning restaurant.

A new patio area has been created in front of the restaurant. Guests are able to enjoy drinks; afternoon tea or light snacks throughout the day.

We operate a smart casual dress code for the restaurant (no shorts, vest, blue jeans or trainers)

1871 Bistro
French doors lead out onto the award-winning gardens and patio. The atmosphere is intended to be relaxing, friendly and informal with good quality local produce at affordable prices, appetisers starting from just £2.75, starters from £4.95 and main courses from just £11.95.

There is an emphasis on using locally sourced produce with Cumbrian Fell Bred, Lakes Speciality Foods, Appleby Creamery and Grapevine Wine Service among the suppliers.

The 1871 name was chosen to keep a link with the original Victorian manor house as it was built in this year. The room has been recently refurbished using local tradesmen and materials where possible with many reclaimed items such as the central downlights which have been sourced from the Concorde hangar.

The Cocktail Bar stocks a wide range of drinks, including an amazing 71 single-malt whiskies, and stays open until midnight. Enjoy pre-dinner drinks in the bar where you can reflect on your days sightseeing around the Yorkshire Dales or Lake District. After dinner, you can relax in the bar or plan your next day's holiday sightseeing whether it be around the Yorkshire Dales or the Lake District.

Why not try one of the many Scottish Malt Whiskies? You may also enjoy a drink in one of the lounges or in the delightful conservatory.

A beautiful calming space that you will enjoy after your treatment to relax further. You will be greeted by very soft lighting, music and an array of comfortable seats to sink into and fall asleep under our soft blankets.

Directions to Appleby Manor Country House Hotel in Appleby in Westmorland

From the North
Leave at Junction 40 of the M6, and take the second exit off the roundabout. You will join a short dual carriageway and will end up at another roundabout, join the A66 towards Brough (Third exit), take the Appleby turn-off, turn right immediately (Signposted Appleby Manor), follow the road for half a mile, pass through an underpass, follow the road round to the left and Appleby Manor is about a quarter of a mile past the underpass on the right

From the East
Leave the A1 at Scotch Corner, follow A66 towards Penrith, take the Appleby turn-off, follow the road for a two-thirds mile, first right, second left (Just before you go under an old railway bridge), follow the road for a quarter mile, Appleby Manor is on the left.

From the South
M6 Junction 38, take the B6260 to Appleby, drive through the town, over the bridge and turn left. Then take the first right and follow the road for roughly two-thirds mile until you come to a junction with an underpass to the left (the underpass is about 1/4 mile past the primary school and scrap yard, at the end of a very narrow piece of road)). Once here, go right, heading away from the underpass and Appleby Manor is about 0.25 of a mile up the road on the right.

By Rail: Appleby 1/2 mile. Appleby is on the scenic Settle to Carlisle Railway, connecting with the west coast main line.

If you are booked on the Serenity Spa Package or Spa Escape Break then the above supplements won't apply as you have unlimited access between 12 noon on the day of check-in and 12 noon on the day of check-out.
