The Cringletie House Hotel in Peebles enjoys a secluded hilltop setting nestled within a historic 28 acres estate, yet only 35 minutes drive from the city of Edinburgh. Choose from 15 individually designed guest rooms and suites at the Cringletie House, including Ardean a delightful 2 bedroom/ 2 bathroom self-catering cottage within in the estate. Each room has its own characteristics from romantic turrets to feature fireplaces. The Cringletie hotel is also highly accessible with direct access from the car park to all public rooms and most guest rooms. All room rates include full turndown service (self-catering excluded), complimentary whisky & home-made biscuits, Nespresso machine, VERO still & sparkling water, fresh flowers, and a farewell gift.

The Sutherland Restaurant at Cringletie House with its magnificent fireplace and hand painted ceiling offers a spectacular setting for dinner so much so that it’s been awarded 2 AA Rosettes and Hotel Dining Experience of the Year 2019 at the Hotel Awards. The Sutherland Restaurant at the Cringletie Hotel serves lunch and dinner daily featuring locally sourced produce. It offers unpretentious fine dining in the Scottish Borders using the best ingredients, often home-grown but always local and seasonal, prepared with the greatest of care but not too much fuss. The bar serves draught lager and ale plus of course cocktails created by the hotel’s knowledgeable bar man.

Cringletie is a unique house with very special architecture and each bedroom has it's unique size, shape and characteristics from romantic turrets to feature fireplaces. No two rooms are the same but all have been individually styled to reflect the character and charm of the house and all offer wonderful views of the gardens or grounds and rolling hills beyond.

Classic
Classic rooms feature beds varying from double to twin to super king. All have a seating area. Ensuite bathrooms offer a shower or shower/tub combination

Luxury
Enjoy a little extra space in our Luxury Rooms. These offer king or super king beds and some can be twinned if preferred. All rooms offer a seating area and ensuite bathroom with shower or tub & shower combination.

Junior Suite 
Size isn't everything but these rooms certainly add the wow factor. These are the largest rooms in the House with spacious seating areas. In this category we offer a superking four-poster room, and two with superking beds that can be twinned. Enjoy a bedtime nip of whisky and a late 12 noon checkout when you book a Junior Suite. (can accommodate rollaway beds which are suitable for children up to 12 years old)

Selkirk Suite
The Selkirk Suite is the finest room consisting of a bedroom, separate lounge and large ensuite bathroom. The kingsize bed is finished with beautiful drapery. The bathroom has a double-ended jacuzzi whirlpool bath and separate jacuzzi shower. There's even an in-built tv for the ultimate relaxing soak. You can also enjoy a complimentary night-time nip of whisky.

Ardean Cottage - sleeps 2-6 with private hot tub
A cottage in the grounds of the hotel features two double or twin bedrooms, both with ensuite. One ensuite has a bath and separate shower, the other a shower only. The cottage has a spacious living room with a double sofa bed, kitchen and dining area. Outside, the private terrace holds your own private hot-tub with views to the hills.

Disabled Assisted Room
When the Cringletie House Hotel was being renovated, the owners made sure it was a fully wheelchair accessible hotel and included a range of disabled facilities quite exceptional for a historic building. This included a ground floor room and en-suite bathroom specifically designed for wheelchair users.
Disabled parking is available close to the entrance with plenty of room for transport with additional space requirements, a wheelchair access ramp outside the house, an easy-to-operate chairlift to the ground floor, and a passenger lift to the first and second floors.

After consulting with the Scottish Deaf Association, they also installed technical equipment in the bedrooms to help guests with impaired hearing feel safe in their beds at night.

Bar & Restaurant

Situated in Cringletie House near Peebles in the Scottish Borders, The Cringletie dining room is a unique location for those looking for a relaxed and informal dining experience in elegant surroundings. The room's magnificent historic fireplace and hand painted ceilings create an atmosphere of refinement whilst our friendly and welcoming staff make sure that guests and non-residents feel at home.

The menu changes regularly so that every dish showcases the freshest and best produce available every month. Expect a relaxed and enjoyable experience with a fine dining feel, good size portions beautifully presented.

Situated only 30 minutes south of Scottish capital Edinburgh, the Cringletie dining room is the perfect dining getaway, quality, unpretentious excellent food in just the right atmosphere for city dwellers, as well as visitors to Peebles and Scottish Borders.

DINNER - Served 6.30pm - 9pm every evening. We offer an a la carte menu and on Sundays the wonderful Tasting Menu where you can sample all the different flavours, textures and combinations of the region and Scotland.

AFTERNOON TEA - A selection of fine Afternoon Teas is served from Monday - Saturday 12.30pm - 4.30pm and on Sundays 3.00pm - 4.30pm in the lounge or garden room and even on the lawn when weather permits!

By Car
From Edinburgh/Edinburgh Airport

Via A720 (City of Edinburgh Bypass). Leave the Bypass for the A703 direction Biggar. At fork stay left for A703 to Peebles. Continue through Penicuik and Eddleston. Cringletie House sign board on the right hand side of the road.

From the Newcastle area:
Head for the A696 to Jedburgh. At Elishaw continue along the A68. Close to Melrose turn left onto A6061 direction Galashiels. At Galashiels take A72 direction Peebles. At Peebles roundabout turn right onto A703 direction Edinburgh. Cringletie House is signposted after 2 miles.

From the Carlisle area:
Take motorway M6/M74 direction Glasgow. Leave at exit 15 for Moffat, A701 scenic route to Edinburgh. At Drumelzier turn right onto B712 direction Peebles. Turn right onto A72. Through Peebles, at roundabout turn left onto A703 direction Edinburgh. Cringletie House is signposted after 2 miles.

There is a wealth of activities available for guests at Cringletie House Hotel. From relaxing walks in the grounds and garden, pitch & put, outdoor chess and archery on site - to a host of country pursuits and outdoor activities near by including: Walking, Mountain Biking, Canoeing, Golf and Fishing.

Cringletie Gardens
The Walled Garden is listed and dates back to 1666, the time of the estate’s original development. The Yew Tree hedges are said to be among the oldest in Scotland.

As well as floral displays and fruit trees, the kitchen garden provides produce for use in the hotel’s kitchen.

A boules pitch and outdoor chess board are featured in the Walled Garden. As well, it is a popular spot for marriage proposals, wedding ceremonies, garden parties and photography.

As well as the Walled Garden and the Nature/Historical Trail, the estate features a woodland.

Nature Trail
A walk of approximately one mile, the Trail commences near the hotel’s main entry, passing through woodlands it goes on to effectively circle the estate. Historical elements of the estate are depicted along the way.

The Trail was officially opened in October 2019 by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for Tweeddale, Professor Sir Hew Strachan FBA FRSE.
