Banchory Lodge is perfectly positioned for exploring Royal Deeside at its very best.

Banchory is the gateway to Royal Deeside and the Cairngorms, Scotland’s only National Park. The clean air of Deeside has long been a draw coupled with its stunning scenery.

Of course, there is a strong Royal connection with Royal Deeside. The royal family have holidayed at Balmoral and Birkhall since the mid-19th century. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert often travelled by royal carriage to Balmoral Castle along the Deeside Railway line, now a popular footpath close to the hotel.

Fishing
The Banchory Lodge sits on the banks of one of the world’s greatest salmon rivers, the River Dee. With its enviable location, you can fish right in front of the hotel where the famous Dee and it's tributary The Feugh meet.
Fishing can be arranged in front of the hotel with Banchory Fishing. The hotel has a rod box facility for storage overnight.

For more information on fishing locally in Royal Deeside simply log onto www.fishdee.co.uk

Shooting
Grouse shooting and deer stalking are a huge hit in Royal Deeside and the Cairngorms where there is a wealth of sporting estates and woodland.
We recommend Fasque and Glendye Estate, as the Fasque side of the hill is one of the largest scale shoots in Scotland. They offer high-quality driven or walked-shooting that can be tailored to the requirements of a party. Many of the drives are on high slopes with spectacular views across the east coast of Scotland. The estate supports pheasant, grouse, partridge, duck and ptarmigan as well as roe deer stalking which is offered in season. For more information simply log onto www.fasqueandglendye.com

Golf
With a plethora of top-quality golf courses in and around Aberdeen and Grampian, you might be struggling to choose where to play.
Staying at the hotel in the heart of Royal Deeside offers you the chance to play several scenic courses with a couple situated beside the River Dee.

Two minutes from Banchory Lodge is Banchory Golf Course, famed for being the course where Paul Lawrie turned Professional and started his illustrious career. Along the road is Aboyne Golf Club with beautiful scenery or for those just wanting nine holes there is Inchmarlo Golf Centre, which also boasts a driving range. Further up near Balmoral is Ballater Golf Course in the most wonderful setting and surrounded by a circle of hills where you can even see Lochnagar.
