The Balavil Hotel in Newtonmore was built in 1900 and has been a family run hotel since 1983. Situated in the beautiful highland village of Newtonmore in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park, your break at this 3 star hotel in the Spey Valley will provide you with perfect tranquility amongst the rolling hills and mountains.  This Newtonmore hotel is a Highland home from home with open fires, wood panelled bar and a warm and friendly Scottish atmosphere.

Each winter, the Coyle family renovate areas of the hotel to upgrade bedrooms and social areas to provide customers with a comfortable and aesthetic facility, whilst maintaining the charm of an old Scottish Hotel. All rooms ensuite facilities, flat screen TV and tea/coffee facilities. Free wifi is available throughout the hotel.

Visitors to the Balavil Hotel, Newtonmore are always delighted by the quality of cuisine on offer in the hotel restaurant. With a varied menu serving both European favourites and fine Scottish dishes, much of the home cooked food is prepared using local produce and traditional recipes.

The Balavil restaurant itself provides a relaxing environment in which to unwind after a day walking, skiing or fishing, and staff always deliver excellent customer service.

The Newtonmore Balavil Hotel has 2 bars - The Saddle Bar and the Shinty Bar. The Saddle Bar is situated at the front of the hotel and offers a more  relaxing atmosphere. The Shinty Bar, named in honour of the local shinty team is the local public bars in Newtonmore and hosts a warm hearty welcome. 

During the season, shinty games can be enjoyed along the road from the Hotel at the Eilan pitch, Newtonmore. Reception can provide fixtures or visit Newtonmore Shinty Club website.

Tennis courts are 50 yards from the Hotel and can be accessed by visiting reception. Tennis equipment can be provided.

From Edinburgh - Take M90 to Perth

From Perth - Take the A9 North towards Inverness. From the A9 take the slip road to Newtonmore, A86.

The Balavil Hotel makes a great base for ski breaks as it is close to the Cairngorm Mountains. The Balavil Hotel, Newtonmore is also within a mile or two of many other sporting activities including hill walking, river and loch fishing, mountain biking, canoeing and golf.

For those who are looking for a more relaxing short breaks at the Newtonmore Balavil hotel there are many attractions around this area. Why not visit the Highland Folk museum or the Cairngorm Mountain Railway. Also Cairngorm Sleddog Adventure Centre and the Cairngorm Brewery

Other local activities include, the Wildcat trail, fishing, scenic walks, horse riding, quad biking, clay pigeon shooting and the highland folk park.

Within a short distance there is the wildlife park (10 minute drive), loch inch water sports (15 minute drive), Aviemore (20 minute drive), landmark adventure park in carrbridge (45 minute drive) and Inverness (1 hour drive).

With a local train station and bus stop, many of these can be accessible via local transport.
