ACCESSIBILITY
Staying at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel is a pleasure that should be available to everyone. So we take accessibility seriously. Whilst there are limitations to the structural changes we can make in a nineteenth-century hotel, we’ve done all that we can to make the Duke convenient and practical for wheelchair users and people with limited mobility. Our access features include:

  • Level access to the hotel from the car park or through the Ballroom via our ramped side entrance
  • Accessible call point at the front steps which prompts Reception staff to provide assistance, supported by a camera
  • The availability of assistance when using the hotel’s lifts
  • A dedicated accessible toilet with a radar lock on the ground floor

Turn Right onto St Budeaux Bypass/A3064

At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit and stay on Wolesely Rd/A3064
Continue straight onto Outland Road/A3064

At the mini roundabout turn left

Car Parking:
The car park at the rear of the hotel is free during the day for guests and anyone dining or attending an event at the hotel. However, a flat fee of £5.00 is charged for guests wishing to park their car overnight. Please be aware that our car park is monitored by an ANPR System, and all guests using the car park must enter their car registration details on the touch screen at the hotel's reception desk. The £5.00 overnight fee is to be paid to our reception team upon check-in. We cannot guarantee a space as parking is limited.

For those unable to use the hotel car park, on-street parking is available adjacent to the hotel which is pay and display (£1.60 per hour, with a flat fee of £2.00 to park between the hours of 6.00 pm – 8.00 am). There is also the use of the Plymouth Pavilions Car Park located across the road from the hotel, which is pay and display.

Accessibility:
Access is available for wheelchair users throughout most of the hotel. At the main entrance, porter assistance can be arranged, with a ramped entry to the hotel. You may also access the hotel’s first floor via the level car park entrance. We have a specialised accessible bedroom available – Room 108 – which is designed with features such as a low walk-in bath, bathroom grab rails and low light switches.

Pets:
Pets are allowed in selected rooms by prior arrangement but are not permitted in the hotel’s public areas. An additional charge may apply for bringing your pet during your stay. Guide dogs and service animals are allowed throughout the hotel. Please call 01357 529 129 if you are looking to bring your pet. 

Cancellation Policy/Non-Arrival Policy:
Please note that should you cancel within 48 hours of arrival you will be charged for the full cost of the stay. This supersedes our standard policy. This will also be the case in the event of a non-arrival.

The Duke of Cornwall Hotel is ideally positioned on the fringe of Plymouth’s vibrant city centre. Plymouth offers a great selection of big brand and independent shops, cinemas, eateries and nightlife.

Just across the road from the hotel is Plymouth Pavilions, one of the South West’s leading entertainment venues, which attracts world-class music artists and comedians. A short walk away, you’ll find Theatre Royal Plymouth, which stages top West End productions.

The hotel is also just a stroll from Plymouth Hoe. This famous promenade offers sensational ocean views across Plymouth Sound, one of the world’s finest natural harbours.

Wander around the waterfront to reach Sutton Harbour and the Barbican. Here, you’ll find the Mayflower Steps, the renowned site from which the Pilgrim Fathers set sail to settle in America in 1620. This centuries-old area features a fantastic array of independent shops, restaurants and traditional pubs – and boasts the highest concentration of cobbled streets anywhere in Britain.

You’ll also find the National Marine Aquarium here. This attraction hosts the UK’s deepest tank and counts sharks and seahorses among its array of ocean life.

Another gem hosted on Plymouth’s Barbican is the Black Friars distillery. This is England’s oldest working gin distillery and home to one of the city’s best-loved exports, Plymouth Gin, which you can sample on a visitor tour.

Another must-visit Plymouth spot is the Royal William Yard, found a short distance from the hotel. This unique site lays claim to the biggest collection of Grade I listed military buildings in Europe.

Central Park, on the edge of the city centre, is undergoing a multi-million-pound refurbishment, introducing innovative public sports and leisure facilities in this prime spot. Its play park offers plenty of fun for the children, and the park’s expansive paths and meadows are ideal for a stroll, a run or a leisurely picnic. A little farther out, you can visit Saltram Park and Mount Edgcumbe. These public parks feature abundant open grounds, stunning views and magnificent historic manor houses.

Beyond the city lie some of the UK’s most picturesque rural spots. Dartmoor, a short drive from Plymouth, is a breathtakingly rugged wilderness area known for its towering tors and resident wild ponies.
