Room was quaint and clean. Staff friendly and the location is great. · The noise of the high street at night at the weekend is something to consider.

Entry to the hotel takes you up a staircase within the original walls of this fabulous old building. It was a wow factor for me. Unfortunately when we arrived at reception there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke coming from some of the rooms,we had booked a non smoking room but you could still smell it in our room. The room it’s self was a bit tired, but clean and comfortable apart from the smell of smoke. The public areas of the building are fabulous if you like your history and worth a stay just for this. Breakfast was very good. Staff and service very good.

I accidentally stepped in the Red Lion Hotel while wandering around town with my study vacation group. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the Tudor style. The staff was extremely friendly with the kids and entertained them with incredible ghosts stories. One the most charming haunted hotels in the UK. Can't wait to come back as a customer and sleep in one of the rooms where the ghost of Cathrine Alice Millar is seen! Recommended for a special weekend!

Booked a 2 night break at this hotel for my husband and I, we didn't want to travel too far This was the perfect place to stay close to my son who lives in kesgrave and a nice shopping area. Great staff who could not do enough for you. Had great breakfast on both mornings and very nice evening meal. Great location if you want to explore the historic side of the town. Will definitely be visiting again.

Excellent quirky hotel that delivers. Old rooms but what do you expect. Fantastic staff that go out of their way to help. Bathroom was a little tired . I will be back. Located right in the middle of everything with great access to restaurants and shopping
