Macdonald Houstoun House Hotel, Livingston

The room was nice and the sauna/steam room was good. The breakfast was delicious (Siobhan was outstanding). The staff were lovely and reception opened the door when we arrived with our case. The only gripe I had was a beafeatter gin was £6 and the lemonade was £3. I felt this was a bit steep. All in all it wouldn’t put me off going back though.

Overall hotel clean. Very limited staff. Food and drink prices very expensive. Charged £5.50 for a bottle of water. Food menu in restaurant very limited and not much choice. Breakfast was okay. Has put me off booking another McDonald Hotel to be honest due to prices

Room was very tired and bathroom looked rusty and not too clean Old suite in room too. Room 43 To say luxurious accommodation is not correct. Food was excellent. Staff good. Bar prices need looking at it is so expensive Stayed at alot of Macdonald's hotels and this one is certainly not the best.

Arrived late afternoon on Friday room met are expectations nice cold bottle of prosecco waiting for my wife which she loved . Food was amazing and Great quality only downside was not getting the chance to use the pool etc due time arriving at hotel.will definitely book again hopefully get the opportunity to use pool next time.

I was disappointed that I booked the upgraded executive with zip room and there were two single beds joined together. This was were obvious during the night when either myself or my partner kept getting stuck when the beds moved g a gap. Also no for a shower at night or in the morning. The food and drink was lovely and there was no noise either.

Lovely hotel. Great deal. Great room. Prosecco in room was lovely. Dinner was lovely Two points that could have made the whole stay fantastic. Cups coffee and tea in room for three. Price of alcoholic drinks absolutely extortionate. Wine very very expensive.

We booked 4 rooms as we had booked a function room for my husbands 60th birthday . The rooms were excellent and staff were very attentive. 4 other couples had booked room as attending husband party . Stafered to serve breakfast to the 17 of us in a room to ourselves, which was a lovely way to end our stay

Very Disappointing, stayed 2 nights,lovely setting and grounds, room lovely,plenty hoer, leisure facil good, Bar and food service terrible, very small portions for breakfast, numerous drinks on bar menu out of stock, double bed was 2 singles pushed together, £13 for glass of wine, have stayed in much better hotels that have been cheaper,certainly not 4Sstar

A great stay in a nice room. Food was excellent for both dinner and breakfast and good leisure facil with a big pool and sauna & steam room. Will definitely look out for offers to return and would recommend it for a short break.

Good hotel in need of a little upgrade in public areas. .Staff very good, pleasant and helpful.Love the building gardens and court yard. Bedroom large with seating area, recently refurbished. Only negative comment was on dinner menu- choice poor .Deserts even more of a let down.

Sheets on bed had black marks and also on duvet cover. When head housekeeper was told no apology said it was oil marks from.laundry. shouldn't have been put on bed. Dinner was good but tribute night was terrible.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel. The staff at the hotel were brilliant and everything was as we expected and the booking was perfect.
