Being one for roughing it, I was all for bringing my tent to the island. My better half had other ideas and booked us in here for 4 nights. Right from our arrival where we were greeted by the lovely Catalina and our first morning where Rosemary called our room just before ten to see if we wanted breakfast even though we were late I knew she had picked well. The hotel is lovely and is a real pleasure to stay in. The staff were amazing and made it feel like home, spending time with each guest entering and leaving to hear about what they were going to do with their day or what they had done. They even took time to listen and enquire to how guests felt about restaurants/places they had been so they could then pass this useful information onto others. The food in the hotel was brilliant and I am certainly going to miss the delicious breakfast every morning. I have seen some reviews about the price per stay and being one for camping or hostels I had the same concerns when this was booked. However having travelled the island in our time here and been into other places with just basic accomodation, the price per stay at Toravaig is actually comparable to some places that look not much better than a hostel. All in all a fantastic experience, and one more personal than if you book into a larger hotel where you pretty much come and go annonamisly as the staff have no idea who you are. I'm certainly going to miss not only the beautiful island but the staff at this hotel that made our travel even more enjoyable Can't wait to come back

Stayed at Toravaig House for 5 nights whilst working on Skye. Many reviewers have commented on the smallness of the rooms, mine No.3 Colonsay, was plenty large enough, though the bathroom was small but functional, no bath just a shower.I had a sea view which if it hadn't rained incessantly was probably stunning. The welcome was warm and friendly and service throughout was spot on. I ate every night in the restaurant. As others have pointed out the menu is limited to a few choices but I did enjoy every dish I had. Breakfast was great, and unlike dinner quite a lot of choice. The hotel and dining room is quite small so I guess it is difficult to have a wide ranging menu and keep up the quality. The only downside is the price, it is eye wateringly expensive, but, and it is a big but , everywhere on Skye is expensive. You can pay the same amount of money and not get this level of comfort or location. I do think they could get some cheaper wines on the list, there should be at least one for under twenty odd quid a bottle.

This hotel is not far from the ferry on this very rugged island. The rooms are not large but are fine for a few nights, with ensuite. There is no lift so be prepared to go up and down stairs, the proprietor helped us with out cases. There is plenty of parking here. Drinks in the "piano" room with open fire before dinner. They have an excellent array of Scotch Whiskey for drinking. The dinner was excellent but a bit on the expensive side. Breakfast was excellent also
