Arrived on Saturday 29th September for one night. Just myself and my husband for a break. Went to reception and the gentleman who we spoke to (,from Beacon Lough) was very friendly and helpful and showed us where our room was. We were in superior room number 30. We thought if was lovely and so peaceful where we were over looking a field with a fountain. Lots of choices in the room for drinks and a huge bed. Went for a swim. There was only the 2 of us. It was ok but could do with being updating. The sauna didn't really work and we didn't bother using it. Food gorgeous and had a 3 course meal. Was delicious. Few drinks in the bar and so relaxing. Lovely nights sleep. Shower didn't work very well. But the bath was nice and hot. Breakfast was really nice however I found it expensive £13.50 for a full English. A bit dear I think. Would defo come back here but wouldn't use the pool unless it had some serious updating and the changing rooms were cleaner.

Booked this Hotel to break our journey to Newcastle, we wanted somewhere peaceful and took advantage of an advertised deal. Now, let's start with the Hotel, Riverdale Hall is located just outside the village of Bellingham in Northumberland and is, as the name implies, close to a river. A gracious, old building which has certainly seen better days but nonetheless is clean and comfortable. Yes it could do with an upgrade but that might destroy some of the character, I love the warreny type of hotel with quirky rooms and corridors. What I really appreciated about our visit was that the Hotel staff really gave the impression that they wanted you to be there, from the warm and friendly check in through to the service in the bar and restaurant every member of staff was really "on the Ball". Having had a quiet, relaxing and, for a Scot, reasonably priced drink in the lounge overlooking the river we headed in for dinner. The menu selection was varied and the food was simply "fabulous". A pleasant nights sleep and a hearty breakfast, which was again superb, saw us ready for the day. On departure we were given great advice on the local area and assured of a warm welcome should we return, as many guests do. N.B. The Hotel has a pool and sauna, is close to the village, golf course and fishing. .

What a superbly-run hotel. The room we had may not have been the most spacious, but it had everything we needed; The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was smart and clean and everything worked. The staff were absolutely fantastic. I'd love to mention some names, but didn't get the opportunity to learn them. From reception to the bar to the restaurant, everyone was really friendly, helpful and professional. You have a great team! But the real highlight of this hotel is it's restaurant and food! We ate from the bar menu on the first night and the restaurant menu on the second night. Delicious and plentiful! The restaurant menu is fantastic and it changes every night. Some very high quality dishes; I had the roasted duck breast and duck fritter... wow! Credit to the chef!!! Would absolutely come back here again and will recommend to anyone I know visiting the area.
