Staff were courteous and friendly Hotel had some serious concerns, the heating system was not working and there had been radiators leaking. This led to a terrible smell of damp and foisty, very strong in certain places. Food was adequate and not of a good standard. We were on a weekend dinner bed and breakfast deal with two night stay. Firstly the room was not right staff were good at sorting this out but there were rooms away from the water damage. We left after one night and as this is the first Mercury hotel very unlikely to use this chain again

Firstly, all the staff were friendly and helpful. If we had any issues they were promptly dealt with. Checking in and reception were good. We were actually given our room on arrival at 10.30am. The room was clean and spacious. It was also very quiet, which was one of our requests on booking the hotel. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and hot!. We obtained a dinner package online at £22 for a three course meal. This was an excellent deal. The food was well presented by pleasant staff. My only compliant was the Radio 2 music playing in the background, which was punctuated by news headlines which were often depressing. Not good when having a quiet romantic meal!! I do agree with other reviewers about the cost of wine. As Silver Le Accor Members we have stayed in many UK Mercure hotels and the cost of wine was at London prices. However, this did not detract us from enjoying a pleasant stay at a hotel, which is in a fabulous location to see all the sights, such as the Dales, Shribden Hall, Piece Hall and the Bronte Parsonage. We would certainly stay again

Stopped here for one night with my other half, as were going to the Bingley weekender for sunday night. Was a bit concerned abeit all the negative comments! Yes the hotel could do with a revamp & a bit of money spending on it, but our room was clean & comfortable & really couldnt complain for the price we paid! We didnt really use any hotel facilities as was at the festival but I really couldn't knock the hotel or the staff.
