Our room smelt very musty, although clean. Hotel very isolated , menu very repetitive. Hotel was soulless, would not stay again .

Very happy with stay but think staff should be made aware of hotel deals as we were going to be charged for evening meals on 3 of 4 nights. Fortunately I kept my email stating the deal I’d booked. Bill was adjusted by receptionist but she had said they didn’t do that deal and I felt the onus was on me to produce evidence of deal I’d booked.

What a disappointment this stay was. The accommodation was good but somewhat tired. But the food was very poor, the dinner was not acceptable. My wife had soup for starter, it was meant to be vegetable but looked and tasted like nettle soup it was inedible. Her main was supposed to be berland ring more like pork ring. She did not go for breakfast which was just as well. I had a full English, the black pudding could have been used for shoe repair it was very thin and extremely hard, inedible. Bacon was awful as was the mushrooms and tomato, the beans were good. Upon returning to our room I was sick with upset stomach not pleasant. Next day I gave breakfast another go but a lot earlier, 0745, hopping that the food would be a bit fresher but no breakfast was virtually the same so I settled for cornflakes at least I could eat them. I complained at reception on booking out to which the receptionist answer was “dear dear”. I just wanted sorry or anything but dear dear so I paid my bill for the wine and left never to return. It’s a pity because the location and hotel are very nice a pity about poor service

Just spent 3 nights at this lovely hotel. Food was delicious - friendly staff and a very comfortable and clean room. An excellent base for exploring the Lakes - highly recommended.

We had a great 2 night stay at the Castle Inn Hotel. The rooms were spotless, lovely comfy beds and all the Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Great selection for Breakfasts and everything was piping hot, and the evening meals were terrific.

We recently had a 2 night stay with this lovely hotel, our room was very clean, facilities where exceptional, staff excellent, professional and nothing was a trouble, evening food lovely and everything there at breakfast you could want. Although the hotel is around 4 miles from Keswick there is a bus terminal and staff are more than eased to give you information if you ask regarding this use, definitely recommend

Did not like eating in the bar area, it was dull and very dated. Room was okay, not the best value for money.

Pleasant grounds and very positive first impression. Lovely welcome from reception staff and we were given plenty information on arrival. After checking in we proceeded to our room which was nicely decorated and had a very large en-suite bathroom. The bed was of an ample size but had a very odd aroma. After inspecting the pillows it became obvious they were very old and not fresh. The quilt also was stained inside the immaculate white quilt cover. The mattress was covered with a mattress cover which was clean but underneath the mattress was in need of being replaced. The aged item gave off a rather strong smell. Fortunately I found two replacement pillows in the wardrobe and changed them over. This hotel need to invest in new bedding without delay. No other complaints really that was the only complaint we had. Thankyou

AHad a gorgeous 2 nights stay,room was lovely and spacious and very clean! Bed was really comfortable and big had best nights sleep. gorgeous big bath and separate shower cubicle . Staff were all very nice helpful and pleasant. Food was really nice,we had steak the first night, which was cooked to perfection and fish n chips the next which we gave 10 out 10. Would definitely recommend this hotel. We will definitely be back.

Hotel was very good, our room was spacious, clean and had good views of the mountains. The staff were friendly and attentive and overall the break was great value. The only slight disappointment was the dinner menu, which had limited choices, although the quality of the food and portion size was fine. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The room was clean , spacious well serviced , tea and coffee in plenty , lovely modern bathroom with separate bath and shower , breakfast very good . I rate the Eggs Royale I had them twice and the steaks perfectly cooked . There was a lovely peaceful and well kept garden . The staff were helpful and friendly .

We had a lovely break at the hotel. We enjoyed an excellent breakfast each morning with a nice lady called Elizabeth looking after us. The evening meal was served in the bar and we enjoyed sitting afterwards in the lovely peaceful garden.
