A nice refreshing three nights at the Tinto House Hotel. All the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean but bathroom facilities were a bit dated. There was some refurbishment work going on during our stay but the impact of this was negligible.

We booked a late room deal last week (4th July) as we planned to walk the next day it gave us a lovely relaxing evening and no traveling in the morning, we had dinner, bed and breakfast. Our room was very nice and very spacious, dinner menu for our booking had three choices for starter, main and desert (though I believe there was another menu for walk ins to the restaurant this was very adequate)the choices were great and the portions were very good (so much so we could not manage a desert though they looked amazing)service was very good throughout the hotel(special mention to woman organising restaurant and barman who chatted and were very friendly and welcoming)breakfast was self serve for cold plates with a good choice and hot full Scottish breakfast was cooked to order. Special mention to "The bigger the better" rum cocktail (it was lovely, well worth a try...) We will certainly be returning.

we really enjoyed our stay and all the staff especially at dinner worked really hard and made you welcome, the food was good , our room was basic but for one night was adequate and very clean but the views ,and quietness in the area made up for it we only stayed 40 mins from the hotel but did not know that area existed , we had an excellent deal and would definitely go back and recommend it to our friends ,family

We had a brilliant time. My niece was married here some 20 years ago, so it was nice to return and reminisce. The staff were really nice and friendly and made us welcome. We had a lovely big room with good views. Would certainly recommend this hotel and we will go back. We have made a few bookings with Classic Britain and have been very satisfied on every occasion.

returning from an enjoyable 2 night stay at tinto house hotel. upgraded bedrooms were very well appointed and comfortable. the staff were all friendly and helpful.The food was ok but the choice was a bit limited.Overall the break was excellent value.

Our bedroom was lovely, bed was ok, bathroom needs up dated, shower terrible, running hot and cold so had to have bath. On check out they tried to over charge us on bar bill and couldn't find the receipt to prove anything. They should change their policy by showing your room card and signing for anything you will pay on check out as the reception said it happens all the time.

I am sorry to read that you had an issue with the shower and I hope that if you reported it our maintenance team attended promptly? The shower and bath are both from the same supply so if a hot bath was managed I would have hoped for the same temperature in the shower - certainly not ideal and I am sorry for the issues it caused. Our standard policy to to present a room card when signing to a room but we would certainly never seek to deliberately overcharge which is why we present a full itemised bill for your scrutiny before taking any payment from a card. Attractive hotel where refurbishment has taken place. We received a very warm welcome from the manager. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. A little disappointed with the staircase we were directed to as a short cut to the bedroom - just a bit damp and requiring some redecoration. However, the bedroom itself was clean and comfortable. The furnishings were a bit worn but as on a special deal we were accepting of this. Unfortunately there was no hairdryer (or iron) but the manager on duty was very helpful and provided one on request. Unfortunately our evening meal was disappointing. Clearly some of the food had been plated up in advance so had become less than fresh and appetising e.g. cucumber was dry in the salad, sauce on fish was a little congealed, cheeseboard cheese dry... The vegetables were overcooked so lacking in colour and the roast potatoes tasted as though cheap frozen fare. This was such a pity as the reviews we had read made a point of praising the food. Fortunately breakfast was far more freshly cooked and very tasty. Overall our short break was pleasant and I look forward to seeing the hotel once the refurbishment is completed.

Good morning, Thank you for posting your review. I am delighted to say that our 'short cut' staircase has been fully redecorated and is now of a far higher standard. With such a magnificent main staircase we originally did not highlight the rear staircase at all but found that several guests found it far easier and quicker to get to and from reception and subsequently raised it as in issue that they were not informed of its usefulness. As a result we now highlight it for several rooms and have had it smartened up. We are in the process of upgrading bedrooms across the property but have a very limited amount of refurbished rooms - our original rooms remain very popular and with a high degree of comfort as you highlight. It is very rare to read such wholesale disappointment with the standard of food. I would be keen to know if you raised your concerns at any point during the meal or stay and if we were given the opportunity to redeem the situation in any way? I am sorry that what should be a real highlight to a stay feel short of reasonable expectations and I hope the matter was resolved whilst you were with us. We booked the 2 nights B&B with 1 night dinner offer, which was very reasonably priced. Room, service & breakfast were excellent. We were a bit disappointed with the breaded haddock that we choose from the dinner menu. We would choose to stay at Tinto House Hotel again for a short break.

Lovely hotel,upgraded room was fantastic. Food was average, there could have been a bit more of choice for main courses. Nice staff but not always someone on reception at busy times.

My husband and I stayed here on an offer break of DBB & btl of wine. It was very good value for money. The main area of the hotel and especially the beautiful stained glass window are very nice. The room was basic and a bit dated but lovely and clean. The bed was comfy with nice quality bedding. The menu was basic but good value for what we paid. Only gripe is we paid extra for the steak which could have been cooked better. Breakfast was really good. All staff were helpful and friendly.

I am disappointed that the steak did not justify the supplement as we source our meat from a local quality butcher. This is our 2nd time at this hotel great value for money both tribute nights brilliant staff very friendly great service food excellent main entrance and function rooms gorgeous rooms maybe a wee bit dated but who cares very clean and comfortable would definitely recommend

We have just returned from a 2 night break at Tinto Hotel. We had a really lovely stay, the manager was such a pleasant, friendly, helpful young man and made us feel very welcome. Our room (16) was lovely as was the ensuite. The food was very good and the choice was good as well. All the other staff we found to be very friendly. We look forward to a return visit. This is a really nice hotel with staff who are very friendly and eager to please. The bedrooms were very clean but are in need of updating which I think is in progress certainly with the bathrooms. The main areas have benefitted from updating. The food was very good.

Rooms are needing updated as is the hot water system, impossible to get shower to adequate temperature either scalding or freezing. But on plus side rooms are being updated and staff are only to happy to please. Service and food were excellent and after rooms are all upgraded and water issues sorted I would happily return.

Generally speaking our shower system in all room types operates without any issues but as we do have a plentiful supply of hot water I understand some showers do require careful adjustment to get the optimum temperature. As well as our continued programme of room refurbishments our maintenance team do investigate all issues and I have had them look into the shower mixer in the room you were resident in. My husband and I had a lovely stay at the Tinto House Hotel. We were in a refurbished room which was lovely (some bulbs out in the bathroom - this should be checked before guests check in. We were staying for an entertainment break and the entertainment was excellent the couple really made an effort lots of costume changes and fantastic voices. The food wasn't too bad portion size a bit small and the veg was a bit soggy. dessert fab! Staff were mostly lovely. Had a major issue trying to get a drink from the bar. it was un-manned a lot of the time and a queue was built up until I went and sought out a member of staff to serve. (this happened on more than one occasion. It was a lovely day and there were a couple of chairs stuck out on the grass but I do hope a beer garden is part of the upgrade. All in all a very pleasant stay!!

Good evening, I must admit that I was disappointed when I first of all saw the marks you have given us but I do feel you have given a very honest and balanced review for which I thank you. The rooms are given a comprehensive check prior to guests arriving and yes, bulbs should be part of this process so it is disappointing that was not picked up on. Likewise, it is unusual for me to respond to less than satisfactory feedback about our food but I have shared your views with the chef as we do take all feedback very seriously. The bar service I must take sole responsibility for - generally we have enough staff to look after our daytime/early evening bar trade. On this occasion the warm weather was lovely but did boost the number of thirsty guests somewhat and we fell short of reasonable expectation. I am delighted to advise that we have taken on an addition 6 staff as we seek to expand the team to ensure we have cover at all times. With 3 acres of garden our existing patio area can get a little lost and guests often move the furniture onto the lawn as it seems to have been the case here. Again, I hope we are anticipating guests needs as we ordered picnic benches a few weeks ago and these are expected soon. lunch was lovely but dinner was awful entertainment was great only 1 member of staff during the day setting tables and serving at the bar so very slow service our rooms were on lower floor and looked like the had not been cleaned for a month old and dirty however we spoke to friends who were more than happy with there rooms I had a look at there room and it was like 2 different hotel's all rooms should be of the same standard of cleanliness I have been to the Tinto Hotel for Christmas party nights numerous times but I don't think I will be back after this experience

Our Head Housekeeper has a rather robust set of procedures to ensure that all rooms are of the highest standard and I am sorry to hear that we fell below reasonable expectations. I am pleased you had the opportunity to see other rooms and have viewed these positively underlining that, whilst you regrettably had issues, it was not a prevalent standard across the property. We had a full compliment of staff on during your stay so I will investigate further your lengthy wait for service. With reception, bar and restaurant in close proximity there should always be staff on hand in all areas. I would be keen to ascertain whether we were given the opportunity to remedy any of these situations for you during your stay? With the constant presence on site of a Duty Manager I hope we were given that opportunity as we would always endeavour to rectify any issues immediately in any way we can.
