BEDROOM WAS COMFORTABLE WITH ADDED BONUS OF DVD PLAYER, ALTHOUGH SEPARATE TOILET AND BATHROOM A BIT OF A NUISANCE....TOILET VERY COMPACT, DIFFICULT TO CLOSE DOOR ONCE INSIDE. STAFF WERE PLEASANT AND HELPFUL. EDWARDIAN GRANDUER OF HOTEL ADDED TO THE AMBIENCE. FOOD AT BREAKFAST AND DINNER WAS EXCELLENT WITH A WIDE RANGE OF CHOICES.LOOKING FORWARD TO RETURNING IN JANUARY 2014.

Difficult to find by car partly due to one-way road systems. Secure parking excellent; staff friendly and helpful; central location extremely beneficial; clean accommodation; very good value for money. Will be booking again!

HAD A LOVELY STAY (3RD THIS YEAR) LITTLE DISAPPOINTED THAT WE WERE NOT ADVISED BEFORE HAND ABOUT THE CAR PARK RESURFACING AND HAD TO MOVE OUR CAR SHORTLY AFTER WE ARRIVED OR BY 8AM THE NEXT MORNING. A BIT OF A HIKE THE NEXT MORNING WITH ALL OUR BAGS TO GET TO THE CAR AND NO APOLOGY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE.

Good city centre location, rooms clean and good food. Liked the small pool. Other reviewers described the hotel as "dated" - it was a little old-fashioned, but it's an old building! Although the corridors on our floor (2nd floor) could do with some updating (carpets/walls not 100%), although once in the rooms they were very nice and clean.

Enjoyed our stay. The hotel it's self could really do with a lot of TLC . They are bedding to concentrate on the finer things like basic house keeping, my room had a big thick cobweb behind the dressing table and dust round the edges .

The hotel was fabulous. Very clean, friendly and the food was superb. The location was perfect set in the heart of the city,but away from the busy bars. Would certainly recommend for a day shopping with good bars and restaurants

Myself, wife, mother, aunt and her partner all had a great time at the crown & mitre hotel in Carlisle. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. The room was very nice The food was also very good. This was a great deal from classic Britain - great value Would certainly return and recommend

Stayed here for 1 night .We had a very enjoyable stay clean room and very comfy bed . Staff were very helpful and friendly. Enjoyed breakfast next morning. They also have a pool and jacuzzi which we enjoyed. We intend to stay here again in the near future

The pool was disappointing, we couldn't use it in the afternoon due to it being used for lessons, not enough chairs to sit on.

The only wash-hand basin is in the bedroom, which is quite inconvenient, especially as the only space for the second chair is in front of the basin. It means brushing your teeth etc.is not private and after using the toilet, you then have to come back out into the bedroom to wash your hands. The other person in the room then has to change seats to allow you to do this. The bedrooms are not large enough for this arrangement to work. The annexe means going out into the rain and cold to get over to the Hotel for meals. Umbrellas were provided, but this is not ideal. Apart from that the Hotel is excellent value for money.
