Gretna Hall Hotel, Gretna

We stayed for 2 nights - 13th&14th February. Upon arrival and check-in we were given no information at all i.e. about breakfast, facilities, etc. The room was cold; the bathroom freezing. There was mould on the curtains; only one small down light on the ceiling. The curtains moved liked a "Mexican wave" due to the wind blowing through the curtains which didn't meet in the middle. We spoke to the gentleman on reception and he wasn't interested. We had to send food back to the kitchen both evenings as it was cold. The lemon merengue pie had defrosted enough! There was children in the bar on Friday at 11pm. On Saturday night, St Valentines dinner in the restaurant wasn't good, a wedding next door and the connecting doors were open; children running around the restaurant too. We went to sit in the bar with our wine and half the wedding party had taken over the bar so ended up taking our bottle of wine to our room at 9pm. I have photographs of the above if you wish to see them. The standard room (room 10) was nothing like on their website and was badly in need of TLC. Lovely hotel, great for weddings but they do not cater for other guests. Really disappointed, wouldn't recommend it or go back. We walked into Gretna town centre and its a lovely place; had lunch at Gretna Inn Pub and it was fantastic. Really sad that this hotel did not live up to your normal standard. We might think twice before using you in the future - but not your fault, so we'll see :-)

My meal was very disappointing the main course was most unpleasant when the waiter took my untouched meal away he did not ask if there was something wrong with it. We have stayed at this hotel before it was not up to the usual standard.

stayed for one night for a relaxing mini break. Breakfast finished at 10 and checkout was 11 so more of a rush than relaxing. Room was in a modern extension and was functional. A couple of pictures on the wall would be nice. Staff helpfull and open fires in public areas really nice.

Hotel was very nice. Rooms were clean and breakfast was excellent. Room 117 shower was not very warm and the mixing valve was not operating correctly. Otherwise a very pleasant 2 day stay. We would revisit this hotel. Staff were very pleasant through out the hotel.

Had a great weekend,staff very friendly and helpful. One of our initial rooms was not suitable for our requirements however this was no problem to reception staff and we were given a new room straight away. Afternoon tea was excellent :) dinner and breakfast were both great. Yes some parts of hotel are quirky(sloping floors) but this is what you get in old buildings and did not take away from enjoyment.

The hotel needs a bit of TLC in certain areas. The staff were helpful and friendly. The room was a bit on the small side but in saying that it was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We were there on a DBB basis and the food was very good. Would definitely go back again.

A most enjoyable three day stay. Good food (apart from one lunch we bought independently). Delightful staff. Room small but clean and cosy for this time of year. Would have loved to stay longer - unfortunately financially unable to. Would love to visit again hopefully in the not too distant future. Thank you Gretna Hall.

I was on a break with 2 friend's and my husband and we had a great time.Hotel very comfotable if at times a little drafty nicely decorated for christmas. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Hotel staff very helpful especially Stuart who went the extra mile. Would definately visit again
