We had a wonderful stay at Shap. The staff were very kind and helpful and the food was amazing. It was certainly one of the best afternoon teas I have ever had. Thank you.

The hotel is pretty surprising - comes out of nowhere, hidden in the countryside. A very grand entrance and foyer. Our room was very quiet but we were given a room at the VERY far end of the hotel, even though they had 4 other guests there that night, which was a little confusing. This was a little hard given we had big cases to take up and down stairs. All in all a nice place to stay and we had a lovely room for our hotel room. The bedroom itself was spacious and clean, but I would recommend they update their bathrooms as it was quite dated, however it was clean. We got good value for money here and would stay in Penrith again.

While the hotel is very pleasant and well maintained why do you have to have pop music playing all day? We intended to stay in the hotel for lunch but this music drove us out. Also we did not expect to find 4 coach parties in a hotel of this standard, you should warn people. The food was what you would expect for coach parties but not what we expect from a B.W hotel

the receptionist was very rude and unhelpful but it was otherwise a lovely visit. Not a dog friendly hotel.

Very enjoyable. Hotel has character and lovely setting, even in snow. Road to hotel blocked overnight by snow but staff worked well to clear it asap. Staff friendly and helpful. Very good value for money as usual with Classic Britain. Would recommend to others and visit again. Don't like plastic glasses in the rooms!(comment rather than complaint-is it Best Western policy?) We would suggest that Web site should give directions from A6 as road from B6261 is impassable in bad weather and very narrow at best of times.

We stayed at Shap Wells Hotel for 2 nights. We enjoyed our stay, food was good, staff helpful and friendly. We especially enjoyed the log fire in the lounge. We will return.

The Hotel was lovely and clean - set in lovely grounds tucked away in the surrounding hillside, with the Lakes a short distance away. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, making our stay very enjoyable. Our room was clean, pleasent and presentable. Having stayed for DBB - Both had a good choice on the menu - and was very good and tasty. I can certainly say that I will return to this hotel again in the near future when I visit the Lakes as it is in such a good location.
