excellent hotel. On the website should make more aware of walks in grounds including the topographical map of Scotland!

Room very small when I asked if we could have a bigger room I was told it would cost £65 a night extra my husband kept banging his head off the slanted ceiling. The staff were all lovely and so was the food .

Nice hotel we enjoyed our stay,room was average for the price we paid,the food however was almost a ten out of ten.

Hotel very clean rooms big and spacious. Staff very friendly polite and helpful . Leisure facil very nice heated swimming pool. Hotel being renovated but did not affect me in any way. The food was beautiful we had £28 to spend on our meal each but did not use full allocation as we were both full this included my husband having a steak the breakfast was also good plenty of choice and listed.locally sourced ingredients

Enjoyed our time at the Barony Castle hotel. We got a great deal for the money we paid and were not disappointed by any aspect of our stay. The staff with a single exception were pleasant, courteous and helpful. I would recommend the hotel to friends and family as providing good value for money and I look forward to seeing it again as the planned refurbishment takes shape.

Whilst hotel was lovely. Our room was not available until nearly 2hrs after out check-in time due to an apparent power failure earlier in the morning. The only compensation offered was a free cup of tea/coffee. Perhaps what would have been more fitting would have been a discount on the cost. Other than that the good was outstanding and service was excellent

The hotel was unfortunately struck with a power cut on the morning of our departure which also affected the water within the hotel. The general manager wrote to us within a couple of days with an offer of compensation and future stay discount. Our stay at the hotel was very enjoyable and our evening meal was very good quality so we have taken up the offer of a future stay. The hotel is going through some refurbishment at the moment and once complete ,will, Im sure make the hallways and rooms fresher and modern. Restaurant staff very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this hotel.

Only problem was the pool was far too cold , and chlorene very strong , i dont think for a recreational pool it should have been that cold , we also had a baby (6mths) so only managed 10 mins in water , a few other guests were saying the same in changing room before we went in .

the food at the hotel is usually excellent on the whole but the second night was not up to the usual standard due to all the hotel focus being on a large tour party which had arrived the previous evening,this continued into the breakfast service. We had visited before and were really looking forward to the break. We are sorry to say that our enjoyment was marred and we would like the hotel to think also o their other guests.Our room which we got over an hour late had a broken tile in the disabled bathroom which had been flooded and the room carpet was smelling.The only alternative had no disabled facil which was a primary request on booking. We also felt our complaint about the delay wasn't really dealt with or explained when booking in.

We love Barony Castle - so relaxing - great food - great wine - helpful and friendly staff. Our daughter is having her wedding at Barony Castle in August - I know it will be a fabulous day.

Nice overnight stay hotel lovely although bedroom very small. Dinner was very nice as was the breakfast you could not ask for anything else to choose from. In the middle of a refurbishment and some of the areas showed this. Would stay again lots if nice walks around the hotel although would have been nice if we could have had a map with done if the walks marked out.

Our second visit to the Barony. Upgrade work continues and is impressive but does not impact on guests. Restaurant staff were delightful however service was very slow with no continuity of server. We would certainly recommend and will visit again and hopefully experience improvement in restaurant service.

Squeaky floorboards in area in front of en-suite and in en-suite. Duvet cover too small for bed e.g. did not overhang the mattress. Staff friendly and helpful.

Having confirmed that the hotel had a lift, I booked 2 rooms, near- by and near lift. On arrival and approaching Reception, the (Senior ?) reception noticed that I was walking with the aid of a stick. As the other receptionist checked us in, and was giving us our room numbers. her colleague conferred with her and proceeded to CHANGE my room to'one which did not have steps to approach.' This done, they then realised that the room already allocated to my travelling companion was on another floor. They immediately searched their computer to change HIS room to be next to mine. I cannot thank enough the kindness, time and effort made so quickly and efficiently as a result of the OBSERVANCE and THOUGHTFULNESS of your reception staff. May I also say, that our short stay was thoroughly enjoyable, and the kindness and attention initially shown, continued throughout our break. Please pass on my sincere thanks to the staff and to the Manager. P.M.Munro

This is a lovely old building. Don't miss the unique feature of the Polish map of Scotland in the garden , it has a very interesting history.

Lovely hotel in lovely location, near Peebles but not suitable for walking to although there is a good bus service. Very nice staff. Good food and clean and bright room. Leisure pool is small but nice for spending an hour or so.

Enjoyed my break, although had a disagreement with the Receptionist when checking in relating to the dinner included in the package, which left me with a disappointing first impression. The bedroom was fine (small but comfortable), the food was good & the lounge area pretty relaxing.

Quick check in, rooms a bit tired but the hotel is going through redecoration at the moment. Restaurant food is superb and the Bar food is also very good. The swimming pool and sauna is adequate. In Summary, the hotel was good and great value for money
