Wonderful Hotel with professional and helpful staff. One small point some of the tables for two in the restaurant are only separated by plants and are at best only a foot apart. Private conversation is impossible as you can hear every word from the next table - too close!

We had alovely stay, this is by far the best 5* hotel that we have stayed in. The atmosphere was very laid back and staff were not in your face constantly as you may find in most 5* hotels.

Excellent 2 night stay. Only minor gripe was that for a top quality hotel, Wi-Fi should be free, they wanted a daily fee

Did not feel the menu in the Kittock Bar was up to the standard of a 5 star hotel

Great stay> very relaxing and luxury all around. Staff were terrific and those on reception were extremely helpful at all times. Only downpoint was having to wait to be seated for breakfast on both occasions and on first day food was lukewarm as well as coffee!

Return visit after a break of a few years reminded us what a lovely hotel this is. Staff are very friendly, especially the doormen and reception. Terrific location with stunning views. We were on a DBB break for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed dinner each evening.

WHAT A FABULOUS HOTEL. THIS WAS OUR FIRST TIME AT THE FAIRMONT AND WE WERE VERY IMPRESSED FROM THE HOTEL ITSELF TO THE STAFF AND THE FOOD. IT CERTAINLY SURPASSED OUR ALREADY HIGH EXPECTATIONS AND WE CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK. IF WE COULD RATE IT HIGHER THAN 10 WE WOULD. BEST HOTEL WE HAVE EVER STAYED AT.

Regularly stay at the Fairmont and the service and condition of the property excellent. For golf and as a base to explore St Andrews it doesn't get much better.

Staff very friendly. It was my wife's birthday and when chatting to the waitress she asked if we were celebrating anything. My wife said it was her birthday,. When the dessert was served we also got a plate with some luxury chocolates and with Happy Birthday written on the plate. A small touch but very appreciated.

Sorry to say but disappointed in this 5* Hotel. Rooms were small and very crushed - bed was 8 inches from the wardrobe! Room carpet was stained and marked and the furniture was scratched. Room was also not very clean - very dusty. Spa and pool was also poor and very small for the number of guests - Sorry but last visit here for us.

Just home from Fairmont. Upgraded room so in lovely room with sea view & golf course. Golf tournament stewards kindly found us disabled parking space. Mark the valet clueless; kept offering valet parking despite us telling him that's not what we wanted. All staff attentive & polite. Dan the Canadian barman very kindly got the malt whisky I was looking for. Room could do with a safe. TV &light fittings in room could be dusted a bit better but this is a minor gripe. Ate in the Squire restaurant as part of "Classic Britain" deal. It was quiet! Food lovely but not piping hot. All in all, I really liked it here. Happy to return.

Service was great. If classic Britain has a deal on this hotel again I definately want contacted. Couldn't go on honeymoon due to work commitments, so this hotel made a beautiful mini honeymoon. Thanks

On the whole we had a pleasant stay. The hotel and location was impressive with the leisure facilities particularly enjoyable and our room was of a high standard. All of the staff we encountered were very nice and attentive. On the negative side the meal on the evening we had dinner was a 'mixed' experience with regard to the meal and a bizarre experience with chairs! My wife's choice of courses was enjoyable but I have to say that my main course of Beef Wellington, the chef's special that evening, was a big let down. Breakfast on both mornings of our stay was enjoyable with a great range of choice. All things considered I would visit the hotel again in the future.

We stayed last year and thoroughly enjoyed it, this time round we have a few gripes. Firstly when we arrived we were told our room wasn't ready and if I would leave my mobile no, they would phone us when the room was ready, we waited an hour ,no call so went to reception and was told the room was now ready. Once in the room I noticed the bedside alarm clock wasn't working so I reported it and was told someone would look at it, that didn't happen so we were left without a clock for through the night. On Saturday after breakfast we went back to our room but the cleaners were in so we waited a short while and when we went back the room door wasn't closed. We just feel disappointed especially after it was so good last year.

Thank you for taking the time to record your impressions of your recent stay with us. We have looked into the issues you raised and found that your room was not ready until you returned to reception, meaning a call could not have been made prior to this time. With our Chief Engineer, I have investigated about the alarm clock. This has since been rectified. I am sorry you had to endure this. We have checked our CCTV camera in the corridor and found that only the room attendant entered your room. I have personally followed this up with our Executive Housekeeper to prevent this recurring in the future. Further training will be given to the relevant member of staff. We apologise that your stay with us was marred in this way. Regards Robert Glashan General Manager

The only thing I feel lets the fairmount down is the aircraft hanger feel of the open plan public area and squires restaurant.

First time in this hotel and it was excellent, the staff go out of their way to be helpful. A mini-bus is provided to take you into St Andrews , during our visit this was unavailable one morning so a free taxi was provided, they definitely put their customers first. Breakfast was of a high standard and we used both restaurants during our Stay. We would definitely go back.

The hotel is lovely having stayed here before we were really looking forward to returning. The rooms are large and have everything you need in them. We were celebrating our Anniversary while staying at the Fairmont and when we arrived in our room a card and chocolates were waiting for us. Then at dinner we were given a free glass of champagne which was lovely. The food was good but not as high a standard as our first visit. We invited friends to meet us for afternoon tea but were disappointed as the scone and cakes were a bit stale. There was no problem replacing them though. The staff were fabulous in the hotel. The cocktails were really over priced. The only negative thing I have to say is dogs are allowed in the hotel which I disagree with and one barked all the way through our evening meal on our second night. I wasn't happy about them being allowed in the atrium. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay.

The hotel was absolutely lovely, the foyer area very nice and the rooms were big spacious and comfortable. I felt the breakfast was a little limited in variety and the quality was a also not as high as I have had elsewhere. Also they needed to have more than just one chef on the omlette station to cut down waiting times, although he did his best. We didn't eat in the hotel in the evening due to poor reviews on other sites. The pool was fine and it was great to see specific child and adult times so everyone was happy.

Luxury hotel set a few miles out of St Andrews. Spa and pool were small for number of guests but well appointed. Staff were exceptionally friendly and professional. Not many car parking spaces so often have to just park on the grass beside the road
