Macdonald Cardrona Hotel Golf & Spa, Peebles

We enjoyed our stay at the MacDonald Cardrona, the staff were all welcoming, helpful and courteous, most had a sense of humour too! Our only criticism would be that there was no water to drink in our room, a small point but most 3 star hotels offer this complimentary service. I have only scored "service" an 8 as the hotel was very busy during our stay but this was no fault of the staff.

Stayed here with my wife for 2 night dbb break booked through you,This is the second time we have visited this hotel through yourselves. A lovely hotel with golf course and spa.Restaurant is first class.Rooms are large and comfortable.

Dinner service in restaurant unacceptably slow. Although there were plenty of staff on shift, there seemed to be a lack of co-ordination to ensure that diners were served in a satisfactory timescale. No complaints about the rest of the stay. Room very large and of a high quality, food good, and grounds lovely.

Lovely hotel, food and accommodation very good, staff very friendly and helpful even at peak times when they wre clearly run of there feet. Our only complaint is lack of staff,a lot of waiting at reception and the bars due to this.

Bedrooms had some cob-webs on the ceiling. Service was generally good but had a longish for food to arrive (manager should be checking occupancy sheet to ensure staffing levels are correct). Breakfast was very good but dinner was disappointing.

We have stayed at this hotel many times over the years and have always been delighted. However our stay this time was very disappointing. The hotel was very busy and as a result the bar was upstairs in a big room with a smaller room off it. There was no atmosphere at all.. Stark bright lighting,no ambience whatsoever. The staff were great, although run off their feet. The food has always been,and still is,fantastic. Hats off to the chef. Some bedrooms have been renovated but ,unfortunately,we were in one that hasn't been. Very tired looking, but ample and clean. Not sure that we would be rushing back, even though we have always enjoyed our stays here. Just a bit disappointed this time

We had the most amazing stay at the Cardrona Hotel, the room was lovely and clean. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and polite. The dinner was delicious, my husband said it was one of the best meals he has eaten,I would highly recommend this hotel, it was the best night away my husband and I have ever had! Top class. Thank you.

We chose the Cardrona for our anniversary stay as we have loved it on the 3 occasions visited before in the past 2 years. However, after an extension of the restaurant since our last stay the service was less attentive and staff seemed stressed and hurried; the food was good but not quite to the standard experienced on other stays; we were directed to the bar to have our coffee rather than enjoy it after the meal at our table; the room was a little tired with holes in the comforter. Still a relaxing stay but a drop in the quality would drive us to try somewhere different next time.

Very enjoyable stay with my grand daughter. Lovely setting. Views from the hotel were stunning. Beds comfortable. Breakfast good and evening meals lovely.

The hotel was very busy but the courtesy and helpfulness of the staff was of a very high standard. A particular mention should be made about Scott a young waiter in the restaurant who not only remembered us from a previous visit but was exceptionally attentive despite being so busy.

Overall the stay was brilliant and I would definitely go back. There were a few minor issues with the food as my partner did not receive the side dish to accompany his main, and my main was not what I ordered. This was due to one main running out and being replaced by another. I did raise this with staff who were apologetic. The restaurant was very busy which meant booking a meal time was very restricted so I would encourage customers to definitely book a meal slot well in advance. The gym and pool facilities were also super.

Great setting, hotel staff and golf shop very helpful. Very busy at breakfast and could look at getting drinks to table quickies before people are leaving. However could just be down to school week. Very enjoyable stay

The hotel and location was great, the food was also very good, the downside what spoiled our wedding anniversary celebration was having to wait over 2 hours to have our evening meal. Our table was booked for 8.45, had to stand to be seated at 8.55, served with our 1st course at 9.25, main meal at 10.00 then dessert at 10.35, in between we had to wait for our drinks order to be taken x2. We advised on checking out of our disappointment and have since emailed the resort manager, who has acknowledged my email but we still await his response after in his words he consults with his staff. As you hopefully appreciate any celebration is special and you want it all to be perfect and this was not. Regards Mark Woodward

The setting was beautiful and we enjoyed our stay. However, the dining arrangements were poor with many people not able to book a table until 9pm and having to eat in bar area from a different menu. Drinks , snacks etc were expensive.

We were.transfered to another Hotel. The Barony Castle Hotel near by. Due to a large wedding being on at that hotel it was a shambles

Again a lovely stay at this hotel, staff are always very friendly and the facilities are very good. It is always busy so book in advance if you want a confirmed time for evening meal. We will return again very soon.
