Barony Castle Hotel, Peebles

I think the hotel needs a total refurbishment. The bedroom was tired looking with stains on the walls and ceiling. My bedroom was above the kitchen which I think they keep for people with deals. There was constant noise coming from the kitchen and when you opened your window because the room was very hot all you got was flies from the bins below. The food was very good and although the staff were professional in their service they were not very friendly. I think had I been paying full price for my stay I would have made a complaint especially about the bedroom.

We had a nice stay at the Barony. Clean & spacious room though very hot & stuffy possible due to the unusually warm weather. Only issue was window I'm bedroom that wouldn't open properly. Friendly waiting staff in the restaurant, Nice food, lovely courtyard, all in relatively good value for money. Would stay again.

We enjoyed a relaxing stay at the Barony Castle Hotel. The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was fantastic with various choices to suit everyone. A good choice of wine. The walks around the hotel were lovely with lots of interesting views.

Second visit to Barony Castle Hotel very enjoyable stay.! Rooms clean and comfortable friendly staff and excellent food. Great breakfast choices and evening meal in restaurant superb. Lovely grounds for a stroll very peaceful. Squirrels and badger we spotted a bonus! Wondering why we waited 2 years to return will be back soon!

We have stayed a few times here, and still brilliant. Staff great and the facil good especially the Beauty room, had the best body scrub, and my husband great back massage . Would not by pass this place if in area.

The Hotel was in need of a makeover, the bed was far too hard, not enough lighting in the bedroom or in the bathroom. The staff were polite and hard working. The food was excellent. The hotel in general and the surroundings were pleasant enough, pity about the weather. Would have been nice to have umbrellas to go outside and enjoy more of the gardens and walks. Would like to visit more of your hotels to assess the interior and exteriors to see if i would recommend them to my friend's or family members. Did like the Peeble's Hydro and Stobo Castle, but your food was better, but lack the quality in furnishings, lighting and the ambience of the two afore mentioned Hotel's. The staff helped make it as good an experience as possible for our wedding anniversary but have to stay overall disappointed. Best regards Gary

Second visit here and had exact same room. Carpet was terrible, looked dirty along with the ones in the hallways. Looks very drab and dated. Food was good though healthier options on the bar menu would have been nice. I was overcharged on departure and the receptionist seemed adamant that I should be charged for dinner even though it was included.

outstanding hotel. You were made welcome from the start. Our room wasn't ready but they moved us to another room. the staff couldn't do enough for us. we are thinking about going back later in the year

We had a fantastic overnight at Barony Castle. The staff and service received was second to none. We had lunch on arrival and afternoon tea and the presentation of and the food was excellent. The evening meal and breakfast was exceptional with a great choice. I know we had a classic room as we had our dog but room 105 was very dark and that is why I have only scored a 7. The room would benefit from a centre light.

Excellent service from the friendly staff. Food was top notch. Rooms were comfortable but the noisey floors were a slight distraction during the night this was to be expected due to the age of the lovely old building.

Return visit to Barony. As before we had a wonderful stay. The staff are excellent. Our room was clean, comfortable and cozy (even though it was sub zero outside). Lovely meal on site. Will definitely return.
