Very nice comfortable hotel. Great area for walkers. The only negative side was that the wi-fi was not easy to pick up. But would recommend anyone to stay there. All the staff were welcome and friendly

Lovely hotel & staff but just a few niggles. Had to ask for an extra pillow twice. Large towel put out for change was not replaced. Shampoo/Shower Gel was not replaced. Shower dripped continuously. Asked to wait in lounge for breakfast as no tables available. Found out after waiting 30 minutes (other people were being called in that had arrived in the lounge after us) that we had not been put on the list!

This hotel is very nice but a bit out on a limb. There were two coach parties at the hotel so you had to be careful what time you ate or there would be a long wait. The rooms are good but we did have a stain on the ceiling in room 214 which could do with a lick of paint. Obviously been a leak at some point. The food at evening meal was excellent. We didn't try breakfast as it was buffet style and would have been very busy with the coach parties in all at the same time.

When we arrive at the hotel it looked lovel, but as I booked using a voucher I new we wouldn't have one of those rooms, but I did expect a room that I could sleep in before midnight, and not be woken up before 7.45am. We were allotted room 28, so if you are given that room when booking in insist on a different one. The reason is, because this room is above the pot wash, which means very proud machinery is used, the staff shout and bang constantly. It was 11.20 when they turned the machine off and 11.45 before they stopped shouting and banging. When I went down at about 11pm to speak with reception she said no one had complained before, but in our room was a complaint form left which commented that it was the noisiest they has stayed in, so their denial was just a lie. I was supposed to stay for three night but had to book out so my weekend wasn't ruined with lack of sleep, at extra cost as I couldn't get a refund from the voucher. This room wasn't fit for purpose, but they are happy to take payment for it.

Hotel reply...

Dear Mrs Hall, I am sorry that you have not enjoyed your stay with us. We have many different room types and your voucher was for a standard room, however, all rooms should enable guests to have a peaceful nights sleep. It is of course true that a previous guest also did not enjoy the room, however, without the facts the complaint can easily be taken out of context as this referred to a disco which was taking place for a wedding. I am proud to say that we do not get many complaints, we work hard to ensure both the building is maintained and service upheld, occasionally we may get this wrong and clearly this is such an occasion. I did call you to discuss and to put things right but you cut me short saying that there was someone at the door. For future guests, room 28 is a nice room but does not afford the wonderful views that the majority of our rooms have. We recognise this and classify it as a standard room type as described in full detail on our web site. If ever a guest needs clarification about anything at the hotels please do call us directly or visit our website, wwwbuckatreehallhotel.com which is full of useful information. Once again, please accept my apologies. Kind regards, Wayne Jenson General Manager

Good quiet location. Hotel is of a good standard but I feel needs a bit of an update/makeover. Reasonable food and drink options available.

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at Buckatree Hotel which is well situated close to Ironbridge and the M54. The hotel is well run, staff are well trained and give very good service (we even tipped the dining staff on our first night) and it is well maintained. I asked Reception how long ago it was redecorated and was told 4 years ago but they had a very good maintenance team who obviously work very hard to keep it immaculate!.No complaints and we would like to go again soon and would recommend it to friends.

We spent 3 nights here with friends, we found the staff very attentive and enjoyed meals in the dining room and the lounge bar. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit this area, a very comfortable stay. I am a coeliac and gluten free bread was provided and the staff had a knowledge of gluten free food on the menu.

Shortage of Bathroom essentials for two people and shower head difficult to use. Shortage of milk for drinks. Wardrobe cluttered making it difficult to hang clothes. Very heavy duvet. Keylock failed one night necessitating repeated trips to reception. On plus side, lovely setting, clean, and very helpful staff.

Lovely location and very posh and smart hotel. Staff were fairly friendly but only problem is that food and drink is very expensive and for the price it is nothing special so we went out into town after our first bill was

Nice clean hotel in an interesting woodland area area. Food was excellent. Room had a small balcony with lovely view . Only negative was the bed which was lumpy and the quilt was far too thick and heavy.

We took advantage of a 4-night dinner, bed and breakfast package and were not disappointed. Overall, the stay was very enjoyable and we'd certainly recommend the hotel. All the staff were polite and friendly and the service in the restaurant was excellent as were the meals. Perhaps the breakfast fare could be a little more expansive with the inclusion of cold meats and cheeses for those who didn't want the traditional 'fry-up' breakfast. We were 'upgraded' as far as the bedroom was concerned so the rating is for that bedroom; I can't vouch for the quality of room that we had originally been allocated. If there is one overall perception of the hotel, it's that it is showing it's age a little and could do with a makeover away from the public rooms. Whilst our room was clean and decor was in a good state, there were 2 fittings in the bathroom that were literally 'hanging on by a (screw) thread'; both were reported to Reception but no action was taken to repair the offending items. It is minor matters like these that take the overall gloss off the overall experience. Notwithstanding minor niggles, the hotel is perfectly situated to serve as a base to explore this part of Shropshire and surrounds. As stated, we enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay again should we have to go back to the area.

Hotel in lovely location we were travelling with a dog so room wasnt that good comfy and clean but bathroom was a bit tatty toilet was leaking. I am not fussy when I have my dog with me but was charged for the dog but was not allowed to take her anywhere but the room. So beware if you dont want to leave your dog on her own for breakfast or in bar area at night we ended up travelling to Ironbridge every night for evening meals which was lovely. I can understand the dining room but maybe not the bar at night for a couple of drinks have travelled all over Britain with my dog paid and unpaid and this doesnt happen very often.

We booked a christmas break quite late but had a good deal. We did not have any expectations one way or the other and were very pleased with our stay. The staff were helpful, pleasant and attentive at all times. The room and facilities comfortable, nicely decorated and well maintained. The food was ample, well presented and delicious. We are both diabetic and our needs were accomodated. We did not enjoy the singers on the Boxing Day Gala night but that is down to a matter of taste. I would reccomend this hotel. you would need to have transport unless you are just there for walking the Wrekin and local woods.

We had a lovely time and the service was excellent. We couldn't find fault except to say - the hotel is right beside good walking and you can take your pet at a fee. How good is that? - but they don't shout about it. perhaps they should? We were on a special offer and our room was more than adequate. Food extra but so good we were glad to tell them how higly we rated our meals. Would we go back? - Oh yes, we want to book and take the dogs this time. Thank you Buckatree.
