Room was very acceptable with comfortable bed.However housekeeping was lacking, no top-up of minimal toiletries,tea or biscuits for the second day. Service was inconsistent- free wine had to requested, then I had to take it to the restaurant in order to enjoy this at the evening meal?? The second evenings dinner service turned into a marathon, after an hour we only had a starter,when queried the meal arrived instantly. Food was very good,hot and tastey. Although my wife had the same starter both nights, the quality was not consistent the second Rillette was completely different in taste and consistency. Check out was speedy and very freindly.

Our two night stay at Cardrona was almost perfect. Room was very spacious, fresh and bright and well set out. Separate large shower as well as a bath was great. Evening meals were excellent as was the traditional breakfast which was buffet first morning and served at the table on the second morning ; not sure why it varied but both styles worked well although the self service buffet area was a bit cramped as the hot platter lids had to be completely removed and space found to sit them down (unless you have 3 hands) Would be much better if they were the more practical hinged kind. We had a fabulous time at the Cordrona Hotel in Peebles. Our room was upgraded to a patio room. Very spacious, clean and modern decor. Food was also lovely and the staff were very polite and helpful. Would definitely book to come and stay here again and have already recommended this fab hotel to my family and friends.

4 Couples stayed at the Macdonald Cardrona on a DBB Sunday Saver deal and we must say the only regret we have is only staying one night. We will definitely be back but it will be for two nights the next time.

We were given a classic Britain voucher for Christmas and chose The Cardrona at Peebles as it had pool facilities and a nice location. We had a room facing the road but were not disturbed by this and the room was clean and comfortable with plenty room for a one night stay. The hotel was very busy with golfers, a large party booking and a wedding and we were glad that we had been advised to book a dinner time the week before by a previous guest. Our meal was enjoyable and the service was friendly but the food had suffered a little from sitting under lamps while other tables were served due to the busy evening. The breakfast was a standard cooked breakfast which was tasty. The cold buffet was rather diminished by the time we arrived at 9:45 which was disappointing as breakfast is served until 10:30 and I would have expected supplies to reflect that. The pool facilities were clean and when we arrived also quiet which allowed us time to relax by the poolside as well as in the sauna and steam room. Overall we had a happy, relaxing evening and would recommend the Cardrona to anyone looking for a peaceful stay in a pretty Border town and a chance to relax for the night.

Hotel accommodation was very good, very comfortable beds. Food was excellent but service was a little slow in the restaurant, although there was a lot of people to serve. Very enjoyable stay and will go back.

Gorgeous views to the golf course from our room, comfy bed, lovely plump pillows, spotless room, bath and walk-in shower....the whole hotel is well kept.. and only ever encountered happy pleasant staff members......but whoever was in charge on Sat morning at breakfast needs to get their act together it was very poorly run...items not replenished for a considerable time...this should be kept an eye on but wasn't...used plates not taken away...everyone around us were having a right moan about not being able to put a breakfast together...I made 3 trips to do so and finaly had do make do with cold buffet items, hot orders were taken on Sun morn as well as cold buffet this was a better experience and the food was lovely...hot and cold buffet on Mon morn again but WHAT a difference staff actualy doing their jobs!!! clearing plates and constantly replenishing hot items....whoever was running the show on Sat morn 19th SEP take note...THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE....there was a whole diningroom of unhappy customers that will no doubt leave negative reviews because of you....the food we had on both of the evenings was nice but won't fill you unless you have the appetite of a Sparrow, VERY small portions, we left feeling hungry.....we also disliked the over the top service, ie placing napkins on our lap etc, maybe some people like to be waited on like that but not us, we find it to be pretentious nonsense!

An excellent break in a very comfortable hotel which was full on 2 of the 3 nights we were there. Beautiful location and good service allowed to have a very relaxing break. The breakfasts and dinners were of a very high standard. Only minor problem was a small lounge which was sometimes used for extra tables as the hotel was full. Perhaps one of the function rooms could have been used as a lounge on these occasions.

Booked two night DBB deal. Experienced quick check in at hotel. Staff informative and welcoming. Double room on second floor was large, spotless clean and had all the extra touches you would expect in modern hotel. Setting of hotel is fab with great golf course and public walkways. Three let downs were very small cocktail bar in main reception with high bar tariff and limited choice. Downstair golf bar with sport showing was only open till 5 or 6pm due to staff being needed upstairs. The very slow and chaotic service at breakfast and dinner. Huge plus was the quality of the evening meals which for us was five star and well worth a return stay.
