Having stayed here twice before Mercure took it over, it seems to have lost a little magic. However, the staff were friendly and welcoming. There was plenty to choose from on the menus. The food was good and the Sunday dinner b&q offer is great value for money. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. Look forward to returning when there are spa treatments available

This is a lovely hotel staff very friendly nothing is too much trouble for them.It would be nice if the hotel could put on some kind of entertainment at weekends as there isn't anywhere near.This is our second time this year we have stayed at the hotel and we found it to be very comfortable and welcoming

Enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Only issue was the room location on the 2nd floor which HAD to be partly accessed via an internal 'fire escape' stairway. Having only partial access by lift to this part of the hotel, guests have to either navigate corridors to the access stairs or go up the entire stair via the pool/gym area. The room itself was good but felt a bit 'isolated' - also totally unsuitable for anyone with mobility problems. The staff, especially Erika on reception and a nice waiter (sorry didn't get his name) were very pleasant and helpful. Food was very good especially at dinner. Hotel has nice pool area and grounds.

Beautiful hotel and grounds, customer service needs attention. Our shower was leaking over the bathroom floor, when we reported it we were moved to a smaller room which was further away from reception, the restaurant and the bar, even though the lady at reception said the hotel was very quiet that night. The second night there was a wedding. It seemed that there was not enough staff to cope. When we went for lunch in the bar we could not get a table, then when we did we could not get it cleared as there was no available staff.

Stayed for 2 nights room had very musty smell there were holes in the toilet ceiling and a hole in the wall. Some carpets in the hall were threadbare and a danger if someone tripped overall I think the hotel could do with an upgrade.

Had a lovely time, great service and great people. Bedrooms could do with a refit but apart from that, clean and tidy.

Receptionist Erica unable to communicate and be understood by guests. Not very welcoming on arrival had stayed at the hotel previously and feel it needs some tic. Misinformed with regards to dining arrangements with regards to your Allowance for dinner resulting in spoiling our last evening. The lift requires to be upgraded as my disabled mother had no alternative means to get to the ground floor when the lift had gone onto generator during a power failure and she had to get down stairs with great difficulty not ideal for an elderly guest

Stayed here for 3 nights last week.The staff were fantastic really helpful and very friendly.Food was lovely will definitely go back. The only thing that was terrible was the weather!!

The deal we had was great value for money would definitely recommend to others..only surprise was that bar closed at 10.30pm seemed a bit early for a hotel..

We spent a wonderful overnight stay at the hotel. The service, staff and food were excellent. Some of the rooms are looking like they need to be refreshed but it is clear that this is ongoing.

Lovely location. Staff on the whole helpful but some confusion about how to pay everything in one transaction. Disappointed in the food, particularly hot breakfast, bacon, scrambled eggs and potato scones not warm enough so did not eat. Minestrone soup very good. At dinner staff member did not warn me that the main dish plate was very hot. Loud noise every time I flushed the toilet and a piece of the top above the w/c above moved upwards. Also intermittent flushing difficulty. When I mentioned this to reception it was known about but had not been rectified. There was no hairdryer in the room, reception brought one. Disappointed I was unable to buy Malbec by the glass. Peaceful surroundings, would go back.

On arrival reception staff were ok then there was no hot water for showering food was wrongly cooked but was rectified maybe was just not a good weekend for this hotel manager was great and did his best though

Stayed one night last weekend at Barony Castle. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Although hotel is tired in places, the food is excellent. Special compliments for the breakfast which was better than in many higher starred hotels we have stayed.
