Housekeeping could have been better as we had to ask for towels and our teas & coffees weren't always replenished and I wasn't impressed by my Facial treatment at the spa but overall I really enjoyed my stay.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay & thought the special offer DBB plus 2 mini spa treatments was good value for money.

My sister-in-law also paid for champagne afternoon tea for 4 of us as this was a celebratory weekend. It was disappointing as there were few sandwiches and they had obviously been lying about uncovered as the bread was dry and hard. All in all felt let down by the food at all meals.

Hotel was in a great position for all attractions . Family room was great for myself my wife and two children. Kimberly at reception was very polite and couldnt do enough for us. Only thing we didnt like about the hotel was waiting time inbetween courses at dinner. Waiting time was far to long could do with more staff to accomodate guest. On the second night at dinner ,my two children chose the tomato soup ,both my children had two spoonfuls and then could not eat anymore. Myself and my wife both tasted the soup to see why they wouldnt eat it. Myself and my wife both agreed it was like eating a jar of ragu sause. This soup is not very nice and would be suprised if someone actually liked it. My children chose a main course of pasta with pasta sauce . Again this was caked with too much tomato sauce and both my children could not eat. Myself and my wife chose the fish and chips for our main course . Me and my wife both thought that the fish was caked in batter and grease. This also was not very nice. We would maybe consider going back at sometime in future ,but at dinner they need more staff to serve and some of the food could be improved. On second night of dinner we actually got up and left ,we were sitting that long ,that we didnt bother with the desert , which had been paid for. Overall we did enjoy the stay in the carlton ,but food and service could be improved.

Overall the hotel was good however we upgraded to a premium room and felt this was a waste of money. No milk in room, housekeeping then provided two cartons! Bathrobes were hard and uncomfortable to wear. Only added benefit we could see was the free parking, but descovered it would have been cheaper than the

My sister and I had a lovely weekend at The Carlton. The receptionist, Kimberley, who booked us in was superb and offered us a complimentary upgrade. Our room was lovely, with everything we needed for a leisurely couple of days away. It was spotlessly clean throughout, the beds were extremely comfortable and the view across Princes Street and beyond was lovely. The bar is a lovely area in which to chill over a glass of wine. Dining room staff at breakfast were great, choice of food was excellent and everything was replenished very quickly. Intend to return to this hotel again.

We were disappointed as this 4 star hotel had ran out of Shiraz and Rioja by the glass. I was also unable to have the Tomato and Mozzerella pastry dish as they had ran out of pastry.

The Carlton is a comfortable, well-appointed hotel in an excellent location. Our guest room was spacious and comfortable, and directly overlooked the Royal Mile. Every member of the hotel staff was helpful and hard-working and did their best to ensure an enjoyable stay. Unfortunately, the hotel experienced serious organisational problems on Christmas Day which meant that the Christmas Dinner experience was completely spoiled by chaotic service as well as poor food. The disappointment of Christmas Day was exacerbated in the evening when there was virtually no food left when we arrived for the Gala Buffet, and the tiny amount of food available appeared to be of such poor quality that we had little alternative but to eat at a nearby restaurant. Credit, though, should be given to the hotel manager. He listened attentively to our comments and readily accepted that the hotel had completely failed to deliver an acceptable experience on Christmas Day and he fully understood, and apologised for, our disappointment. The hotel's response in ensuring that the Boxing Day Gala Dinner was of good quality with outstanding service was testimony not only to the commitment of the hotel staff but particularly to the leadership and management shown by the hotel manager in providing the best possible response to what had been a very disappointing situation. Whilst the organisational mistakes of Christmas Day were regrettable and disappointing, it is ultimately more important to judge the hotel not by its mistakes but by its response to those mistakes, and its response could hardly have been bettered. Aside from Christmas Day, there were no problems with the food or service, and the breakfasts were particularly well-cooked with good variety and quality of food. The hotel also readily reimbursed us for the cost of our restaurant meal on Christmas evening. Overall, despite the disappointment of Christmas Day, we were happy with the hotel manager's response. His actions and determ

Four friends off to enjoy a Christmas shopping weekend!!! Excellent value for money, with two nights for the price of one. Only five minutes walk from Princess Street which means no need for taxis. The evening meal was lovely, as was the breakfast. However the only let down at breakfast was the queuing for teas and coffees, selected from a machine!!! Would visit this hotel again with my husband.

Hotel is so convenient for station & the town. Room changed as the hotel had no info re walk-in shower requirement. New room provided without hassle and ideal for purpose. Staff polite, friendly, willing to oblige. Our party of 4 are looking to return at a later date - deal was so reasonable for a city centre hotel

We stayed 4 nights in a large family room, and would happily stay in this hotel again. Staff in all areas, concierge, reception, leisure centre, restauarants, maid service, and bars were friendly, polite and helpful. Facilities were fantastic and the rooms were clean and a good size. Highly recommended.

We had an excellent stay at the Carlton Hotel and would like to highlight that Kimberley who checked us in on Saturday afternoon is a credit to your hotel! My only criticism would be the table we were placed at for Sunday breakfast but this wouldn't stop us returning to stay.
