We enjoyed our short break in Carlisle. The Crown & Mitre is located in the centre of Carlisle and is very convenient for the shops, Cathedral, Castle and Museums. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had Dinner B&B on two nights with B&B on the third night.The set dinner was excellent - lots of choice for each of three courses with no supplement, which included the cheese board. Although the room wasn't big, it was comfortable and contained the essentials required for a short break.

Fortunately we upgraded but rooms were very shabby. Final bill included drinks we did not order & felt embarrassed having to sort in front of other guests. Evening meal on 2nd night was much better, breakfast was excellent. Breakfast Host was a lovely girl but some staff members could take a leaf out of her book. Overall not impressed with Hotel.

Cold room in spite of addition of electric radiator. Food is carried without a cover from the kitchen to the bar and restaurant through the public corridor. Room with shower reserved was not allocated until we complained

Had a great stay, hotel was great staff very good. The only issue we had was we arrived at 3:15 for an expected 2pm check in. The room was still not ready at 4:15 we were given a complimentary glass of wine.the room was ideal for our needs.

We spent a very pleasant night in the crown and mitre hotel Carlisle.The staff were very helpful and friendly,the room was spotless and evening dinner and breakfast were lovely.We will definitely be back and would recommend this hotel.

Enjoyed another break at this elegant Edwardian hotel. The hotel has beautiful public rooms, reception and hallway. Breakfast is served in a magnificent large dining room and excellent dinner in the restaurant. Staff are pleasant and the hotel is extremely centrally located with access by five minute walk to the rail station. Many destinations can be reached from the busy rail station. Rooms are comfortable but may be deemed as slightly tired. We will be back.

Booked as a stopover on way home,great price,location very central to shops,hotel lovely,staff very helpful. Booked Dinner ,bed and breakfast..food lovely and great choice and quality Would definitely book again and no hesitation to recommend this hotel.

We had a lovely stay, clean and good sized room, with lovely views of the city center. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Good all you can eat breakfast and dinner was a set menu with good choice. The only criticism is that as we stayed for two nights the menu was the same on the second night two. So I ate the same meal as the first night due to the limited choice. This is our second stay at this hotel and would definitely return Thank you

Stayed at the hotel for a 2 night break at the weekend. Hotel was lovely, food was great and the staff were very friendly. Location was superb. Only downside was we felt the rooms could be doing with an upgrade but apart from that really enjoyed and will definitely be returning.

Loved it here , such a grand old hotel with many of its original features still intact. Very welcoming staff and good service throughout our stay. Room was pleasant and clean though slightly dated in decor. Excellent secure parking on site and the hotel is perfectly positioned for all the shops , bars and restaurants etc in the city centre. One of the nicest cooked breakfasts we've had in a while .....the BUFFET was actually HOT and of good quality . The only slight disappointment was the leisure facilities but it certainly never spoilt our stay . Will definately book again .

Allways enjoy our breaks to Crown & Mitre.We our fairly regulars especially at Christmas.Its a lovely friendly Hotel,and the Staff are great.There was a lot of new training Staff. Great Food,Great Bedroom,Great TIME.

Some areas of the hotel are rather outdated and would benefit from modernising, however it was very clean and tidy throughout. The staff were always polite and helpful, and the food was very good both in the evening and at breakfast. Ideal location, right in the centre of Carlisle. Would definitely book again.

The hotel in an ideal position to access the town. The room we stayed in was very dated & in need of a deep clean. We ate in the dining room but the food wasn't cooked properly - the burgers were raw in the middle. The reception staff also tried to overcharge me on checking out so all in all it was probably the worst hotel stay I have had.
