Found very strange no reception area. Had to go to bar to check in and out.Bedroom carpet ready for the bin, completely thread bare. Toilet roll holder broken . For the money paid was expecting better accommodation. Would think twice about booking with classic Britain again. This is the first time we have been disappointed in classic Britain.

Very disappointing. The hotel is badly in need of refurbishment. We were given a twin room having booked a double room. Bedroom was ok although rather dusty but bathroom was dirty with mouldy shower curtain and filthy tiles.

The room we were put in was very basic and the carpet was threadbare. I have asthma and I was unwell both mornings on waking up only to realise the room we had put in was for guests with dogs. This caused me to be very breathless and wheezy and feel unwell during my stay. This should not happen as I have bad asthma and allergic to dog hair and this could have triggered an attack. The hotel was tired but the food was good.

Had a good nights stay in a confortable room fit for purpose. Would use this hotel again when golfing in The Borders.

Staff very friendly, breakfast was great, however we decided to eat in the hotel one night & was not impressed with burger & chips, I thought the burger was tasteless & was disappointed in the twice cooked chips i felt these were like frozen chips.

Food very good but disappointed that we had to eat in the Bar Area rather than the restaurant. Customers should be informed before booking that the restaurant is not being used. The bedrooms and the lounges are tired looking and in need of upgrading.

We had a very pleasant stay in the Park Hotel from May 2nd.to May 4th 2015. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful and the hotel itself was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We would not hesitate to recommend it.

We were allocated a delightful room with 2 small turret seating areas and with very good views over the river towards the hills. The cent. heating boiler could be heard from the bathroom but was barely noticeable in the bedroom. It helps to be slightly deaf!!The food was adequate and a bargain at the price. Courses took a long time to arrive and were probably cooked from fresh as the hotel only seemed to have 25% occupancy. The staff were of mixed nationalities and all were extremely polite and helpful. One of the French waiters did not have a good command of English but this was not a difficulty as we speak French.

At first the room offered was in need of updating carpet worn but clean and tidy.Asked for another room and this was forthcoming. The room was a great improvement and was accepted. Clean and tidy have no complaints. All staff very welcoming and polite and nice to talk to.Menu requires more choice but the food ordered was of excellent quality and hot the service again was excellent. To sum up the stay was an enjoyable and refreshing experience. The hotel as become part of the Hydro and would be worth a visit when refurbishment is completed.

Lovely small hotel in the heart of peebles. very helpful and friendly staff. Food was good but would recommend that people are given the choice whether to eat in the bar lounge or restaurant even if they are just eating from the bar menu. The breakfast was excellent, good choice and plentiful. The room was clean and spacious with comfty bed. I definitely recommend the hotel.

We were very disappointed on arrival as our room was small and overlooked a flat roof and huge kitchen vent. Nothing like the photo online! The door of the room next door was propped open with an old towel and there was a smell of damp. The room was hot and stuffy but we couldn't keep the window open because of the noise from the kitchen vent. We booked for a special 'Hogmanay' stay and although the food wasn't particularly traditional, it was very good. The 'entertainment ' was enjoyable but not particularly special ( some young boys on bagpipes and accordion and an older man singing and playing a guitar). Nothing else was offered as part of the 'Hogmanay Celebrations' and most staff had left by about 11.30. Thankfully the next morning we were moved to a bigger room overlooking the car park but away from the kitchen. The hair dryer was broken and the toilet didn't flush properly but at least the room was quiet and airy. We didn't sleep well as the bed was so small ( we're used to a kingsize) ,the duvet wasn't big enough to cover us both comfortably and the pillows were of poor quality ( also no mattress/pillow protectors). On the plus side, we had a very enjoyable ( and generous) afternoon tea in the cosy lounge ( we were actually too late for this but the staff couldn't't have been more obliging ) and the breakfasts couldn't be faulted. The staff were friendly, pleasant and so helpful. Restaurant staff were great ( apart from the young girl who stripped down the vacated tables near us, bundling up the dirty linens and leaving condiments etc on the chairs whilst we and other diners were in the middle of our meals)!! In short, it was the lack of attention to detail ( cheap toiletries, shabby fixtures and fittings, small beds, cheap and shabby linens) and perhaps a lack of training in some of the younger staff that lets this hotel down. However it is clean, warm, cosy and friendly and the food and service is excellent.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay, staff could not have been more helpful, on the ball and continually checking that everyone had all that they needed.

Fantastic value for money. The room did need refurbished but everything you needed. The bed was the only problem it was so old that when trying to sleep it hurt all your joints. So we didn't have a good nights sleep. Staff were so friendly and the breakfast was superb. Served with a smile and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

The room was quite cold but the staff were more than happy to supply a portable heater. The mattress was a bit lumpy but apart from that we had a lovely stay and would most certainly go back. Brilliant breakfast ...... Excellent service all round.
