very poor room location ( extractor noise below single glazed window and cooking smells)

Excellent service from staff in very relaxed comfortable surroundings. Really enjoyed the stay which was excellent value for money.

One of the waiting staff Taylor was excellent, he was the one who noticed our empty plates had been sitting for a long time before anyone cleared them away even though it appeared he was not covering this area. I saw a blond haired girl drop a butter wrapper from a plate she turned and realised it was her but left someone else to pick it up. If more of the waiting staff spent less time at the till then maybe their time and attention could be better focused on customers and clearing plates away. Taylor always had his mind on the job and was a credit to your hotel. I don't think this was done on purpose, but I saw a lady with a walking stick coming in to the bar from reception and instead of the member of staff giving her time to get through the gap they went through at the same time giving no respect to the lady or her disabilities. I know this may seem petty but it appeared to me some of the bar and waiting staff could be helped by some further training to be more aware of customers needs. The leisure facilities were great and overall we had a very good stay, but felt little things let you down ever so slightly.

a wee hotel bus into peebles would be ideal. majority of guest are not spring chickens anymore. its a fair hike uphill from main road{taxi expensive}

Very enjoyable stay. Hotel is in process of being refurbished/redecorated which can only be a positive sign. Lovely surroundings with plenty of grounds for walking. All staff very friendly & helpful. Food and service very good.

We must have had the worst bedroom in hotel, room no 129 which seemed to be situated around hotels boiler. The noise from boiler throughout the night was awful, clanging of pipes and hearing constant noise from fired up boiler. Also the room was overheated although the radiator was turned off. The creaky floorboards was also another poor point. However generally the hotel was very pleasant but would not wish a room in same part of hotel again.

Enjoyed our stay however, when in the games room there were no darts for a game of darts and no chalk for the snooker. The lift being out of order was an inconvenience and glad we only had a small case, although help was offered.

Good value for money deal however hotel bedrooms were tired for 3 star hotel. Lovely setting and good character.

Very pleasant two night stay.Room was clean and comfortable - only complaint( very minor ) was squeaky floorboards.Staff were friendly and helpful and meals were excellent.Grounds were lovely (even in the snow) and I would imagine, will be even nicer in summer.

Great value for money! We had a lovely time and the staff were great going that extra mile. Brilliant customer service! Food in the restaurant was excellent and the staff were very attentive. Don't listen to bad comments go and see for yourself. Will definitely be returning to this hotel very soon.

On arriving at hotel , receptionist said they had not received my booking from cb as it was a last minute booking , receptionist then said they only had one room left and was lucky , then asked what would have happend if no rooms when arrived she said they would have to give twin room , wasn't to happy as took a bit longer to book in than usual , room we got was clean ok small and at back of hotel , b/f dinner were good for the money we paid , staff went out there wa to find a candle for husband as was his birthday . Bar staff very friendly .. Used pool and sauna which was good as we had it to our selfs .. All in all value for money for what we paid..

Had a lovely stay at barony. The bathroom floor and bath had a few issues but it was fine for the overnight. We let reception know about the issues for future reference.

Great Hotel in excellent location. Good road links within easy reach of Edinburgh and into Fife approx. 1 hour Booking in was a little laboured and delayed but I suspect that this was due to the room being prepared, the Hotel being quite busy. Staff apologised and made us aware when the room could be occupied. Our waiting time was excellently covered by the provision of a generous cream tea.

Lift out of order we were on the third floor two of party with mobility problems no rooms lower down. Not a comfortable stay.

When we arrived lady at reception was friendly, room was clean and enough space but a little dated. The food was excellent, we used the spa and pool which were good, nice and clean. Only negative was when we checked out we had been given someone else bill for first night stay and the lady on reception this time was very rude, gave no apology for the error, rolled her eyes and made us feel like we were lying. It eventually got all sorted but still not once did she apologise and was very rude which was a real shame as had a wonderful 2 days and this left is very angry/annoyed.

Overall we had a lovely stay, food very nice in a well decorated dining room, bedroom whilst having all good amenities ie dressing gown,slippers etc, could have been better decorated ie carpets stained and walls needing another coat of paint. Spa was adequate for a small no of people, however could be crowded easily.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay (our 3rd visit to the hotel)and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Nothing seems to be a bother to them at all. One of the nights was very busy in the restaurant and we waited quite a long time for our main course and when it did arrive it looked and tasted as though it had been lying under the heat lights for a long time. Other than that everything was great. Maybe more staff on when the hotel is full would help. We will definitely be back again as we love the hotel and the area and we can take our dog with us. Thank you.

Just returned from a 2 night stay at hotel which included dinner on both nights and a cream tea. The food was excellent and the service from all the staff was friendly and very professional, they are all an asset to the hotel, especially the restaurant staff. Nothing was a problem and they all took time to speak to all guests. The decor in the hotel and in our room was modern with a traditional touch. Maybe the only problem was the lift out of order which made getting to room on the third floor a trek, but hey we can do with the exercise. Overall a truly lovely stay for my husbands birthday will definitely return.

Hotel needs refurbished desperately, can hear everything in the rooms next to you and wallpaper etc peeling off walls. Staff are lovely very friendly and willing to help. Food was fantastic both nights. Would return for a day but would not stay over night again unless in a suite.
