Gables Hotel, Gretna

Not as good as other reviews lead one to believe. Staff and service excellent but food in the evening was very bland and not hot enough. The room was quite small and too hot. We had one or two issues which were soon resolved but we have stayed in better hotels with Classic Britain for a similar price.

The staff were exceptional but, the chef seemed to let them down. Incorrect food to what was on the menu.Long wait for the items ordered.Order not what we ordered.

lovely hotel and staff were very good and helpful. meals were excellent and a big choice of meals, breakfast was also excellent a big choice on the menu but for me the full breakfast was superb, we will return to The Gables again

Staff were first class and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was also excellent and we couldn't believe the value for money we got. Only downside was that the towels were awful and need replacing

Checked In by a lovely receptionist and given room on the ground floor . Room was a bit dark but clean and perfectly adequate . Meal was excellent , full choice of menu we were on a deal with a glass of wine which we don't , drink but the helpful waitress swapped these . Excellent steak to full for dessert. Breakfast was excellent self serve continental then a choice of cooked brought to the table . Will definitely return thankyou!

Lovely looking hotel ,friendly staff.Our room was clean quite basic,but fine for the price.We thought the food was of a very good quality.Service slow on Saturday night due to a large wedding reception,I was too tired to eat mine at 10pm after a very busy day!Service in restraunt was good for breakfasts and on Sunday evening everything was as it should beShame about Sat evening.Enjoyed though and will go again.

The Hotel was very nice, in a good location. Food was nice and the staff were very friendly. The Hotel bathroom - found hair which was not so good. Service at meal time was a bit slow but enjoyed our stay and would go back

Had a lovely weekend break staying at The Gables Hotel. Was perfect, felt like a home from home stay. Friendly staff, lovely room, very comfortable. Nice atmosphere, will most certainly be back soon.

We had a lovely stay at the Gables Hotel,Gretna. The staff were very welcoming and friendly . The food was excellent.Excellent deal. If there was anything I think the hotel need to purchase new towels our towels were very grey and shabby .

We were staying at the Gables to celebrate my mothers 93rd birthday. The staff and management were so friendly and even sang a chorus of happy birthday to her. I would have no hesitation about staying there again as it is so central for everything.

On arrival staff were very helpfull, room was smallish but adequate for us. Our deal was an evening meal. bed and breakfast which was very nice and having table service for breakfast was good. Would recommend. It was very central to where we were going to next on our travels.

We have seen this hotel come up on many occasions and thought it looked good but didn't know if it would be worth the 2 hour drive..well we have been now and are glad we decided to make the journey it was well worth it, lovely food, helpful staff and a great location. Could not think of anything negative to say. Would definitely recommend and would definitely return
