Excellent service and a extremely clean and comfortable enviroment.

Our room was clean but had a very damp smell. The food was tasty but the wait for the meal was so long that we thought that the staff had gone out shopping for it. It took two hours for three courses, the first being a salad. Staff were friendly, but obviously not enough of them.

The Gables is a charming country hotel. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is warm and welcoming. The food is extremely imaginative and delicious. What can I say. Excellent stay at extremely good rates. Hopefully will return,

Spent a night here on a Sunday Night Saver.First impressions were good with nice bar and the room was reasonably large and clean as was the bathroom with ample supplies of toiletries.We had been advised to book ahead for the evening meal and I booked it for 7.30.Earlier in the bar the bar tender seemed to be busy away from the bar most of the time as a will o the wisp would be easier to catch.We went down at 7.30 and ordered our starter and main and waited.at 8.20 there was still no sign of the starter.|After enquiring at reception our starters eventually arrived.No explanation for the delay.Unfortunately after my meal I had a restless night and did not feel well(I won't go into details)One culprit may have been the dessert which had a cold patch in the centre (maybe not fully defrosted)Breakfast was adequate although I did note that I had half a potato scone and half a slice of black pudding included in my cooked breakfast.Overall nor an experience I wish to repeat in a hurry.

Our second visit. Very friendly and helpful staff. We were only staying on a bed and breakfast basis, so cannot comment on restaurant meals. Breakfasts were good. We were staying on a really cold weekend,and the bedroom was warm and cosy.

on arrival the hotel had no record of my booking, fortunately I had a your email confirmation and they had a room available, otherwise could have been without accomodation. My next stay thro classic is in March, I hope there is no recurrence

Stayed at the gables before and had a lovely break, this time the room was not as good as last time, the shower did not work properly, pillows were flat and this made for a very uncomfortable sleep.

comfortable room with excellent breakfast staff friendly and attentive. Only complaint dinner menu was not available for meal in restaurant would perhaps have eaten there if it had been.

Stay was excellent. Room upgraded on arrival which was unexpected. Staff and service both excellent. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Ideally situated as a stopover if travelling from further afield. Great shopping at the Gateway was a bonus and it's only minutes from hotel.
