The hotel had under gone a revamp. The food was excellent value for money and I would definitely stay again. Only disappointment eas the leisure facilities wss closed due to being done up. But the real fire made up for it. Nice and friendly staff. The A la carte was excellent.

An unexpected pleasure. Despite a busy weekend, staff were unfailingly efficient and courteous. Service in the dining room and bar was impeccable, and the six-course taster menu was not only excellent value, but delicious.

Our Stay at Thainstone House was very comfortable and staff were helpful pleasant and courteous. We had a most enjoyable weekend. Public rooms were tastefully decorated in character with the era of the house and it was warm and comfortable sitting by the open log fires. Food was well professionally presented with wide variety of choice. Our bedroom was warm and comfortably decorated the bathroom was a bit chilly however it didn't spoil our stay. I felt Crerar were obviously upgrading the hotel and I would definitely recommend a visit.

Visited this excellent hotel with friendly and helpful staff 20th-23rd October 2013. Upgraded on arrival to a very spacious room. Felt this should be a 4 star establishment. Would definitely consider using this hotel again.

Had a two night break (11th&12th Oct) and had a great time. While the rooms are tired and in need of updating (we believe this is being carried out in the next few months) the rest of the hotel we thought was in keeping with a building of this age, type and character. Had the 6 course taster meal on the 1st night, fantastic with an equally enjoyable meal on the 2nd night from the Al a Carte menu. Staff were very attentive and our thanks to Sheena in particular for taking the time to look after us and provide a surprise 'sweet' dish for my wife to celebrate on her birthday. Looking forward to a return visit in the New Year.

We stayed two nights and were disappointed with the standard of our room on our first night. Also we had some very noisy guests in the room above us. We had to complain to reception about 1.30 in the morning. The staff were very apologetic and made every effort to deal with the situation. Due to this disrupted night, and the standard of our room, we asked to be moved for our second night. Vicky at reception was very understanding and moved us to an executive room. This room was of an exceptional standard and was very quiet. We had two evening meals in the lovely dining room which overlooks the gardens. The food and the service were excellent and the staff, Sheena and Louise, were very attentive and friendly. The Hotel dining room also serves an excellent breakfast. The public areas of the Hotel are of a high standard and are very comfortable. We understand there is ongoing upgrading of all the bedrooms and no doubt the room in which we spent our first night will eventually also be of a very good standard. We would be very happy to return to the Thainstone House Hotel.

We were exremely disappointed with the stay. The taster dinner, included in our rate was not good, we opted for a meal from the a la carte menu and the supplements were extortionate for what was not good food, over and above our rate we paid in excess of 60 pounds for our choices. We decided against eating in the hotel the second night and went into Inverurie and I can recommend the Spice of Life. We met other guests from the hotel who had done the same as us and felt the same about the food. The breakfast was ok but limited in size, ie. one rasher one sausage one tomato etc. The room was dingy and we looked out over a doorway which was obviously the staff smoking area and we woke during the night with noises fro there and the smell of tobacco smoke wafting in. Suffice to say we won't be going back. My wife had a treatment package booked at the spa which she thought was very good and her lunch was ok, I had a tuna sandwich and a beer which ended up costing me 21 pounds which I thought was ver expensive for what it was however it was the best food I had the whole weekend.

Great value, hotel staff very good, six course tasting menu varied from the sublime to a bit strange to the downright awful. Some of the new colour schemes in reception area very dull and dreary! The beautician in the Spa was a very nice friendly lady however the

nice hotel in the middle of a refurbishment. Wedding on both evenings we were their. Our room was right next to the function suite, so noise levels were high. The hotel moved us for the second evening, however the wedding guest were over the top with noise until the early hours, something that the hotel should have taken control of , remembering that there were other paying guests in the hotel. The food was excellent and staff friendly. the hotel will be first class once all the refurbishment is complete.

Taster menu is a terrible idea, I did not like either of the choices (2 of each)for starter or main. The desserts were the only course I enjoyed. I said we were with CB and was advised the taster menu was the only one available. SCore given is not for how food was cooked or presented but for whole Taster menu concept. The bedroom was roasting even with all the windows open. The window was set at over 6 feet high so we had no view at all. The extractors were on until after 1am making noise like planes taking off, so with heat and noise, impossible to sleep most of the night. Very disappointing stay. WE have been at this hotel before several times and never had such a bad room and always really enjoyed the meals. Won't go back.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was undergoing some work. The chef is trying a sample menu (comments is this is a good idea to try some food you would not be inclined to order, however, two criticisms- the portion size for cost is not value for money and the second point is the hotel declined the

this stay was to allow us to attend funeral in Newbyth so was not really bothered. However was disappointed in several aspects if were on vacation. Bedroom windows were blocked by workmans container so no daylight or view was possible in room. Bed was very uncomfortable and pillows fell between bed and ?headboard as was bed that folded up into wall. Certainly not an upgraded room. Had booked for DBB for the two nights but the "dinner" was of small "tasters" with no servings of potatoes or vegetables which was not explained on arrival and would have had to pay extra to have normal dinner portions. Cannot fault dining staff as were carrying out orders. Was not what we have come to expect when using Classic Britain as is first time encountered problem. Understand hotel is going through refurbishment but should close areas until finished and also rethink dinner policy.

Enjoyed our stay, Couldn't fault food or service. Room comfortable but in need of a little TLC. The hotel has recently come under new ownership, and the speed that the renovations are being undertaken is quite remarkable. Told that rooms are to be fully renovated shortly. This hotel will be something special.

Lovely setting, room excellent. Breakfast very good but portion sizes for dinner very very small. Our 7 yr old son kids meal was a bigger portion than the adults meal. Spa facilities good although steam room not working but that could be due to refurbishment work which is ongoing.
