A clean, comfortable and warm hotel in an amazing setting . The two lounges had open fires and ample seating for guests. Staff were friendly and helpful- an excellent country retreat!

This is our 8th year visiting this hotel and it always lives up to our expectations,room upgrade was fantastic, however, this time my wife and I felt that the staff moral was at an all time low,I don't know if its due to new management or lack of training but its such a pity,there was also confusion over the meal package and it wasn't explained correctly starter portion size, price allocation limit etc,this could have led to an embarrising situation if you were a first timer,however,we were fortuate that we have stayed before and managed to resolve this with one of the staff,this will not deter my wife and I staying again or my recommendation to friends,but,I think the staff moral situation requires reviewing as you only get one chance to make a first impression.

Fantastic hotel. Staff were the most attentive we have encountered in Scotland. Food was perfect and the rooms were spotless and extremely comfortable. It was my father's 74th birthday and they could not have been more kind to him. Will definitely return.

Upon checking in we were told that the heating boiler system in the main building had broken down, and that we were being upgraded to a suite in one of the nearby buildings. It looked more like a holiday apartment than a suite! The bed was at one end of the room and a small sitting area and sink with microwave at other end. My husband didn't like the layout or feel of the room but if we wanted to move we would have had to stay in a cold room with only a small plug in heater. On unpacking I found a hair tie and a pair of socks in one of the drawers, and our bucket wasn't emptied on our first morning after housekeeping had been either, very poor. The bed was so hard it was like sleeping on concrete, we did ask if a mattress topper could be provided but again housekeeping failed to provide this or explain why it wasn't provided. There was no internet and on the second night and no television either because apparently the wind had moved the receiver! More like Fawlty Towers than a 4 star hotel. The staff in the restaurant and the food was excellent and on this we had no complaints at either breakfast or dinner. But we will not be returning because just felt that the hotel doesn't warrant the rating it has, on cleanliness or service.

On arrival we were upgraded to a suite. Check in was easy. Suite very clean and comfortable. Service at the bar and dinner was excellent and the food very good. Breakfast was also very good. I really could find no fault with this very well run hotel.

Thorouhgly enjoyable visit to this hotel. Staff were welcoming and friendly. The superior room we had was on the ground floor and was spacious with a lounge area and all amenities you would expect. It is a little off the beaten track but that was a bonus for us. Roaring fire in the cocktail bar at night and food was delicious. Will definitely visit the hotel again.

Nice hotel with great service. The food was very nice but a small menu to choose from. This could be a problem if staying for more than one night. I would stay again :-)

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Our room was spacious and comfortable with lovely views. The hotel has a genuine 'country house' feel and all of the staff are very pleasant and helpful. The food was excellent also, especially dinner, with quality ingredients and great cooking. Best place we have stayed for some time and we look forward to a repeat visit soon. Enjoyed our recent stay. Bedroom was nice, staff good, service ok. Overall enjoyed our visit. If I could be constructive it would relate to the menu. We were there three nights and neither menu changed, other than the catch of the day. The food was very nice but we had to move, at cost, to the a la carte menu to get a change of food.craft beer also much enjoyed.

Very nice hotel. Good restaurant, particularly dinner.Staff very pleasent. Heating needed to be better. Bedrooms very cold, radiator in our room not working at all and very poor in the other room too.Apart from the restaurant the public rooms were also pretty cold. Pity because the hotel and grounds are lovely.
