We enjoyed our stay & it was a good deal. However, the rooms & parts of the hotel are quite run down & in need of a refurb but the bar & sitting areas are nice. The pool facil are good but we were disappointed with how unclean the actual pool area was around about. On two separate days at the pool we saw a dirty used plaster at the side of the pool amongst some other rubbish. The changing rooms were not too clean either. Evening meal was lovely. Breakfast very average. Not the best quality. Luke warm beans, watery scrambled eggs, dried up haggis & once the pastries were finished they were not stocked up & we were there from 9.20_10.30. Staff were really nice & helpful but just completely rushed of their feet & we got forgotten a couple of times. Like I said at the beginning, we enjoyed our stay but wouldn't return due to the issue's mentioned. We frequently stay in hotels, many being of 3 star rating but most having much higher standards. Thank you to the nice barman who served us on the Saay afternoon & also the lovely waitress who was on at the same time & also in the morning for breakfast. Think she was Foreign. Sorry we didn't get names.

An enjoyable value-for-money weekend stay at Capital Hotel, Edinburgh which, although located 5-6 miles to west of city-centre, is very convenient for the regular No.26 bus into town (£1.50 adult single; £4.00 all-day adult ticket). Spacious and well-appointed room with large, comfortable bed; only slight negative are thin walls - perhaps not so great if unlucky to have noisy guests in next room. All staff, from reception, to dining, to housekeeping, were notably friendly & helpful. Dinner menu on DB&B package is relatively restricted (3 choices each course, one possible veggie option for starter/mains) and dining room, although a good view in daytime, is more functional in feel than an ambient 'dining experience'. However, the food itself was of good quality and the staff attentive and friendly. Breakfast, which is buffet style with self-serve hot drinks and toast, (with option of cooked-to-order porridge or poached eggs from the kitchen) was plentiful and of good quality. Overall, a very decent quality/value stay: we would readily return.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel the service we received was great and staff very pleasant. The 9nly complaint I have was the Saturday morning we were woken up about 8:30 - 8:45pm with a workman I the next room hammering at something. Surely it would have been better to do wait until at least the breakfast time was past when most visitors would be up. Apart from that we did enjoyed ourself and will return in the near future.
