when we arrived at the hotel we were told there was no booking in our name lucky for us I had taken our conformation letter with me. once we got the problem sorted ,we had a lovely night

Unfortunately dinner service on second evening was not up to standard. Booked dinner for 7 pm and did not get main course until 8.45 pm. Our 2 elderly friends by this time had lost their appetite.

Slightly disappointed with this hotel. There was a wedding on and therefore hotel very busy and not enough staff. Food average. Although classed as "dogfriendly" our dog not welcome in most public areas.

our stay was not relaxing as various issues,checked in with a stern faced receptionist gave us key didnt direct to room took us ages to find lots of stairs, wedding on and hotel full staff very unhappy looking and not sure of their jobs!no fresh orange cold coffee. we were above function hall couldnt be moved as full and other guests had already moved rooms for this reason so noisey wedding band stopped at 1am .wedding guests in only bar area from 7pm till 8pm very bad language and sexual conversations another guest complained but hotel did nothing. eve meal took 2hr 15mins then we were asked to go back and show the staff where we sat to sign bill! didnt use pool as tiny area and very busy.sound proofing in rooms not good! have always wanted to go to Barnoy castle but will not be returning sadly!

The reception staff where not very informative on the facilities within the hotel and we were not informed of breakfast times. Although the room was clean and tidy it was very cold and uninviting.

Hotel very nice although an old historic building it was nice modern inside the meals from the limited menu where nice , but think the 8.50 extra if you wanted a steak was a bit much, we booked for 2 but were given a room with a king size bed and 2 singles crammed in this resulted only one side of the bed had a set of drawers and the other had the bottom of one of the singles , was going to ask for another but just put up with it.nice place but will call next time to select room.

we had a nice break at barony castle the food was fantastic and staff very helpful, the only complaint I would say was the bedroom was like a fridge it was freezing when we arrived as there was no heating on in room we went down stairs while it heated up.

this is a very nice hotel to visit a very peaceful setting friendly staff good service good food i have enjoyed staying at this hotel several times with my wife and look forward to my next visit i would definately recommend this hotel for a short break or as a wedding venue thanks for an excellent stay again

Hotel was great base for our trip, service and staff very good, food was excellent - the only thing I would say is the menu was the same for the 3 night stay I feel a couple of changes could have been given otherwise meals were excellent overall a great place.

A bit of a mixup with our rooms when we arrived. As the hotel was very busy we had to wait for them to find us other rooms. They had no twin room available so they upgraded us to better rooms free of charge. Which were lovely. After this we all had a very enjoyable stay. The staff were very pleasant and friendly. I would recommend this hotel and stay again.

My wife an I stayed at the Barony Hotel for the Friday and Saturday nights 1st & 2nd November. The setting and accommodation was good but the main failings of the hotel was the food in the evening. We could not fault the breakfast although toasters are notoriously fickle. What let it down was the evening meal. This consisted of the same menu both nights with little choice. On the first evening my wife had salmon which came with no lemon. The main meal was chicken which was tough to cut and a mustard mash which was lukewarm. I had a gammon steak, for which I was charged a princely sum of

when I made the booking I asked for adjoining rooms, I phoned the hotel direct a few weeks before our arrival date to double check the adjoining rooms.....yip when we arrived no adjoining rooms, we were taking our dog as this is why we requested it, 2nd night we were moved into a suite as the rooms had been messed up, apart from that problem the stay was good our 2nd visit and yes I would def go again.

Food very good but menu repetitive no change during our 3 nights stay. Leisure centre often unmanned not towels available had to get reception to bring supply.

Really enjoyed our stay here, but just a few things that could maybe be changed/looked at. I am a very tall person, 6 ft 4, when in the shower the small shower screen did not cover enough of the bath and as a result the bathroom got soaked after I had a shower. maybe a shower curtain would provide more cover. There were several power cuts during our stay, I realise this is not within the hotels control but nobody contacted us in our room to acknowledge there was a problem. We paid extra for a superior room which included a coffee maker, but the cups we were provided with for the coffee maker were to large to fit and we had to speak with the chambermaid to get the correct cups.

Arrived to welcoming and friendly reception staff, checkin was a easy and quick. Bedroom lovely and clean, great bed and very comfortable. Room in need of a paint walls a bits scuffed with cases. Dining room and bar staff good and food excellent. Overall had an excellent staff will definitely return again. Used spa facilities and nice relaxing treatment which was welcome bonus as facilities were not at this hotel on last visit.

We were a party of six and all of us had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay. First night in restaurant service on the slow side but second night much improved to our satisfaction. Would certainly recommend this hotel.

I see why it is 3 star. The hotel is nice but let down by poor service and poorly trained staff. The restaurant is particularly problematic with no change to the menu over 3 evenings, slow service, staff continuously mixing up orders.
