Stayed here for a weekend for a wedding and had a fab time. Such a great venue for weddings and also a weekend break. I totally recommend this hotel and I'm already looking to go back for a spa weekend. Food was great and so are the prices.

Bedroom extremely hot. Window only opened a small way and the fan in the room did little to help the heat

We had a wonderful stay at the Barony, staff were friendly and attentive and food was excellent...my compliments to the chef. The surrounding grounds of the castle is a maze of great walks and for spotting wildlife...would recommend to anyone.

Staff very friendly and helpful. we requested a change of room as we were next to the reception area of a wedding and the band was extremely loud. The young man at reception was very helpful and relocated us to a quieter area. A beautiful setting with lovely grounds. If booking check if there is a wedding and make sure your room is well away from the celebrations.

What a beautiful hotel and beautiful suroundings. We seen it at its very best, the weather was scorching and it made the most of the outside space. The staff were really helpful and courteous and nothing was to much trouble. Will definetly be back and will recommend to friends. True Scottish hospitality at its best.

Unfortunately Barony Castle had overbooked and we were transferred to The McDonald Cardrona Hotel instead. The following comments reflect our visit to the Cardrona Hotel.

Very small bedroom and carpet a bit tatty, no real outlook, however did have my dog with me so think this might have been the reason for the poor room. Food in restaurant really good

this was an extremely pleasant stay. the staff were very accommodating and nothing was too much effort for them. I would recommend this hotel and will stay with them again. the only criticism is regarding the evening meal, and this is because, when I asked the waitress whether my choice of dish was served with veg, she said not, so I ordered a side of veg, only to find that there was veg on the plate, making an unnecessary addition to the food bill. the same applied to the other diner who ordered fries, only to find that fries came with the meal anyway. the cost of the additional fries was deducted from the bill, but I didn't feel comfortable complaining abut the veg issue as well. The food was delicious.

room was not ready till 1600, first room offered to my son was miles away at the top of the hotel, and the TV didn't work. We were rescued by a chambermaid who called reception. Once resolved it was good.

This being our second stay at Barony Castle has been as delightful as our honeymoon break and would recommend people to have a couple of nights at this pleasurable and pleasing hotel.

Took my mother for her 83rd birthday to Barony Castle, a very enjoyable experience and would have liked to have stayed longer. Pleasant helpful staff, nothing too much trouble. Nice large bedroom, but very noisy floorboards and thin partition walls with next bedroom which meant unfortunately, if your neighbours were a bit rowdy in the wee hours, could keep you awake - luckily my mother is almost completely deaf! however, did not detract from our overall enjoyment. Would recommend anybody hoping to book spa treatments do so as early as possible. I tried a week before our stay and completely booked. We'll know better next time! can recommend the area, quite beautiful and the nearby towns are all worth a visit. Overall would not hesitate to recommend.

First impression -Good atmosphere and rural location then after arriving 16.00 slightly aged furnishings, long walk to room through numerous linen changings in corridors. Found only 18.00 or 20.30 available for dinner booking. Dont like eating late so had to go for 18.00.Rush to leisure facility for sauna.Half changed only to find towels had to be obtained at main reception at other side of building. Nobody told us and no notices either. Joined 6 other residents in cubicle who had been sitting there for 30 minutes without realising heat was not switched on by reception. They were informed twice but I waited 20 minutes before first bead od sweat - disappointing and actually incompetent staff. Saturday evening food was good and staff responsive. Sunday breakfast was both good and bad. Cold buffet selection of fruit and continental style was good. Cooked Food requested on order was also good but full Scottish buffet was poor in that food had stood under heat for a long time and was not good. Baked beans more like mushy peas. Other disappointment was old TV in room which had disintergrating images for 20 minutes before settling down. Nice grounds and garden walks. Just needs more TLC and faults to be ironed out. Would say these are management issues to be addressed.
