Staff were very friendly but a number in the dining room lacked basic training. Although bedroom was pleasant the view left a lot to be desired.

We had a really nice stay at this hotel with very friendly local staff who were able to help out with directions and local information. The bedroom was large and very comfortable and the food was excellent. Still some refurbishment being done but this did not inhibit us in any way. Look forward to a return visit.

could be a very good hotel, but needs money spent on it to bring up to date, as decor is very tired lets hope the new owners continue with refurb, also beds are very hard.

Enjoyable stay. Wedding on Saturday on hotel put additional pressure on staff which resulted in reduced standard of service over sat night / sun am. Food standard was excellent.

Very enjoyable stay with our 2 grandchildren, only comment was breakfast on last day was a little cool as not served in usual dining room, just get warm on hotplates, our only complaint. Reception staff very helpful and friendly.

Dear Fiona, thank you for taking the trouble to post your review following your recent stay at Thainstone House Hotel & Spa. I was delighted to read that you enjoyed your stay with us last weekend. I can assure you that it is a boost to everyone's morale to know that our efforts have been appreciated. I note your comments about breakfast on the final day. When the hotel is especially busy, we do sometimes have to consider moving breakfast into the Ambassador Suite rather than Simpson's Restaurant in order to accommodate the sheer number of people. Whilst it is not ideal, we do find that it is preferential to most customers who prefer this to having to wait for a table at peak times. However, that is no excuse for the food not being piping hot, which I have discussed with the head chef & restaurant manager. From all of us at Thainstone House Hotel & Spa, we hoe to welcome you back next time you are in the area. best regards, Barry Clark

hi when arriving we did note the threadbare carpets and the decor is aged but it was still a lovely old house, room i first got was dark and dingy so i requested a move and was granted it, pool was small but adequate. cammies bar is not very nice as its smells damp and mildew .. study not accessible the snookoer rooom was good, as for simpsons restaraunt we enjoyed the food we stuck to the set menu cullen skink , beef and veg and cheesecake all YUMMY . had a good nights sleep bed comfy breakfast next day was good but few things missing ie cakes muffins , black pudding and beans did not make my plate as supposed to on the menu but i still enjoyed it ,, not bad but defo old and past its prime

Dear Kelly, Thank you for posting your comments following your recent visit to Thainstone House Hotel and i'm glad to read that, over all , you enjoyed your stay with us. We do have a beautiful old building full of character and although you didn't really like the first room you were offered, i'm glad to see you mentioned this to us as we are always more than happy to offer alternatives to make sure everyone is fully satisfied. I'm sorry you couldn't make use of the study during your visit, but this area along with the Drawing Room is currently under refurbishment, to bring them up to the same standard as the recently refurbished Cocktail Bar. I'm so glad you enjoyed your dining with us, we really do pride ourselves on the food we serve, using the finest local fresh produce wherever we can, although i was quite frustrated to read that you had items missing at Breakfast. Thank you for your constructive comments which we value and always act upon. From all the team, thank you for your visist and we hope to welcome you back next time you are in the area. Barry Clark General Manager
