Barony Castle Hotel, Peebles

We had a lovely stay, the staff couldn’t be more helpful, our room was nice but unfortunately wee bit far from the lift for my husband to walk, really nice girl on reception moved us to a more suitable room closer to lift, food was also great.

My wife & I had an enjoyable time at the hotel. We would go back. The food was very good. Basically the only thing that disappointed us was the problem with the shower. We reported it on our first night the Monday(there for 4 nights).We were offered a change of room or wait until the morning when maintenance would look at it. When we came back that day to the hotel the shower still did not work. No note left for us. Very disappointing. The person on reception did not know any about it. It was the sme the next morning. Different person on reception. We had decided to not change our room. That morning before we went out it was sorted very quickly. Not a major repair but sorted before we went out for the day. Very poor response & lack of quick action to sort the shower. Clear lack of communication when the problem was not major but bad customer care.

Really nice hotel with great staff. We dined in the hotel l twice and the food was really very good with an extensive menu We never tried the pool but other guests said it was great. We will come back to this hotel as we had a very nice break here..One comment worth mentioning is the amount of rooms and corridors this takes a bit of negotiating at first

We enjoyed our stay, the food was excellent and most of the staff were pleasant and helpful, however the room was disappointing, it was very small which wasn’t a particular problem but the window was tiny an didn’t provide sufficient ventilation especially since our stay included the warmest night of the year. The shower screen wouldn’t stay open, we weren’t given a hand towel on the second day, the kettle lid wouldn’t stay closed but as we checked out no one asked how we had enjoyed our stay!

Reception at the hotel was friendly and the room comfortable clean and tidy. Perhaps a bit tired however.Dining at the hotel was good as we sat in the bar area where our dog could accompany us. The standard of food was good I would certainly recommend the hotel to others.

Returning to Barony Castle is always something to look forward to, especially the dining experience. Steak on a stone is fabulous, a nice selection of starters, and the sticky toffee pudding is different from others hotels and places. The staff were very professional and courteous and catered for your every requirement. Rachel and Hannah at reception and Peter in the dining room were especially attentive. Looking forward to returning later in the Autumn. The dog loves it too, he is happy when he gets to Barony with the walks available and in Peebles walks along the River Tweed is very relaxing. Enjoyed 2 nights dinner bed and breakfast Dinner each night was very good. Breakfast was buffet style with a hit selection which on both mornings was only just warm there was a choice of cereals yoghurts and a small selection of fruits. Staff on reception were very friendly we used the pool but were disappointed that we had to change in our rooms as the changing rooms were being updated nit ideal having to walk through the hotel in wet swim wear particularly as we we on the third floor. Our room was comfortable but dated.

Lovely 2 night stay, great location to explore the map of Scotland, the town if Peebles with lots of independent shops & the Borders. Room was fairly small, but was clean, warm & had everything we needed. Great food options & lovely staff. Excellent value for money, would recommend.

The hotel is in a lovely setting. Rooms are a bit on the basic side, disappointing in the dining room as staff were taking away plates etc., whilst the other members of the party were still eating. Good food and wide choice of drinks. Afternoon Tea was a bit disappointing for the price.

1st floor room spacious, bed comfortable and large. Big bathroom with loads of , loo roll and toiletries. A couple of comfortable chairs in the room would have been preferable to the hard backed ones provided. Staff were very pleasant , welcoming. capable and knowledgeable about the surrounding areas. Leisure pool area looked fine but did not use. The food was good apart from the breakfast offering which was good food wasted due to the temperature of the food held at the 'hot' buffet. Fruit juices dispensed from a machine were awful. Breakfast was not a 4* experience ... quality bacon, sausage etc cooked well but held at too low temperature on the buffet server Currently undergoing renovations which once finished will I am sure provide a welcome retreat for guests looking for a superior stay

First class from check in to departure. Dinner delicious with an excellent choice. Breakfast was more than adequate but would have preferred waiter service as buffet food was almost cold. Staff very professional and helpful.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel is a bit dated and rooms could do with some upgrades although some areas look as though they have been upgraded. There was a wedding on the same weekend and the guests seem to command the beer garden area as it was a lovely day which we do not fault them for however, it made us and other hotel guests feel as though they would be intruding on the wedding, therefore did not go to the beer garden which would have been good to do on a lovely day.

Had a very nice stay. The food was good and the staff very friendly. Only one complaint. There were 2 bus loads of people from England who arrived at the hotel same time as us. Even though there was plenty of signage up requiring us to wear face masks, these were ignored by the bus passengers. The staff did nothing to correct the situation.

Had a fantastic two night stay at the Barony Castle hotel on the outskirts of Peebles. We upgraded to a deluxe room which was lovely. The staff were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. Food was great, you could chop and choose between the a la carte and the bar menu. I asked to go for a swim and robes and slippers were delivered to our room? The grounds are lovey too, will definitely return?

Great break. Upgraded before we went .on arrival our upgrade was Upgraded again to a suite which was fantastic. Food was beautiful and good portions. Staff were great and very helpful. Gym was small but great equipment pool was clean and relaxing.

Found this accommodation very relaxing. The staff were all very helpful and food was excellent. Breakfast buffet was not all that hot on the second morning. We don’t always find these heat lamps are a great success at keeping all the food warm. Everything else was just lovely and will be returning.

The hotel was great. Staff very polite and helpful. Food very tasty and good choice. Disappointed at bar running out of sweet Rose wine and having no Rose Prosecco. Also couldn’t do tails with raspberries or strawberries as had none on Friday and didn’t do any on Saturday as not enough staff! Room was very clean just very creaky floors so didn’t get a good sleep both nights as above were walking about late at night and from 5 am in morning Won’t be back for that reason

We had a lovely short break at the Barony Castle Hotel. The food was excellent and a swim in the pool was much enjoyed. We brought friends with us on this our second visit and they too enjoyed the visit very much.
